| My wife and I stayed at the Makis Studios 12 years ago. At that time there was no pool and the area where the pool and the annexe is now was a beautiful garden and olive grove and I used to watch the old man tending them every evening while I waited for my wife to get ready to go out. He (the old man) became quite friendly with us! Scala itself, while you could find a good night out if you wanted one, was much quieter then and much more like traditional Greece. Going back to the Makis at night was a delight as it was so quiet and peaceful. Two years later we went back again and enjoyed it just as much for all the same reasons. For the next few years we went to a variety of other places but in 2006 we decided to return to Kefalonia and stayed in Katelios. We took a trip in the car to Scala to renew old aquaintances and refresh our memories and were very disappointed. Scala has turned itself into a resort rather than the village it once was and the locals don't seem to have a 'community' any more! We were particularly sad when we called at the Makis and the old man and the garden and the olive grove were no more....replaced by a Bar and a noisy pool. I know things have to change, things can't stay the same forever but Kefalonia is beginning to lose it's soul, the very thing that made us love it in the first place. Scala, in my opinion, already has. | |

My husband and I have just returned from our holiday and although we loved Skala, staying at the Makis Studios ruined the holiday. The first week was fine but during the second week a RAT appeared in our room through a hole in the ceiling!!!! , Mr Makis, the owner of the apartments was less than helpful and only believed that the rat was there when we showed him it's droppings. Unfortuntaley, we had to threaten to tell the other guests before any action was taken. He only blocked the hole, leaving the rat trapped in the ceiling. We pointed out that this was not acceptable but were informed that rats/mice around the rooms were a common occurrance! Our Holiday Rep was also verbally abused by Mr Makis when she tried to help.

went on July 25th very clean had a kettle fridge 2 cooking rings. we only used kettle and fridge. friendly pool bar we were in room 15 3rd floor but only one set of stairs at night when we returned . 2 lots of steps down to the pool . very clean pool but some times kids were very boisterious and parents didnt bother. only down fact outsiders used the pool and left there towels on the sun beds all day even when they went out. would definetlygo back as it is situated of the main street and a few minutes walk to the tavernas so it is nice and quite.

Nice clean apartments, although the balcony was smaller in ours than in some of the others. But we had a nice view. Lots of steps down to the apartments and they are at the top of a hill near the main street of Skala so not great for people who have walking difficulties. The pool is open to anyone so it can get busy as people staying at apartments nearby without pools tend to use it. There were several noisy and boisterous children in the pool at times which disappointed us as it was an adult choice in the brochure. Staff are friendly and Nicky, our rep was excellent. I'd stay there again. Wendy

| It was our first visit to kefalonia last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it and we are going again later this year. We stayed at the Makis Studios which we found to be very clean, nice pool and friendly staff. Not far to walk to the main street and the beach. You can book through Airtours to stay here. | ||||||||||

| Just returned from a much needed 2 week holiday staying at the Makis Studios in Skala. This was our 1st time on Cephalonia and we really enjoyed it. Makis Studios were clean, in a good position, pool and bar area excellent and the staff and Sara the Airtours Rep. were friendly and obliging. We highly recommended you hire a fan as unfortunately there is no air conditioning but otherwise we had a great time (09-23/07/02). Ian & Donna, Manchester. | ||||||||||
