aeolos towers?
disappointed - having heard so much about this hotel
we arrived at the aeolos directly from the airport in our rental car. i was instantly asked to remove the vehicle as they need the space for a coach bringing the other guests. having done this i expected to complete registration and be shown to our room to freshen up after our long journey. alas, not the case, we were told to sit in reception and await the arrival of the afore mentioned coach, as angela did not want to have to repeat the hotel rules and regs. twice. despite not being offered a drink we sat and patiently waited, and waited. the arrival of the coach signalled the well rehea**ed greeting ceremony. smiles, and waving to the newly arriving guests, escorting them into reception, whilst their bags were being unloaded. in total contrast to the “shift your car, sit there and wait” greeting that we had encountered. angela then proceeds to read the riot act to you, not failing to mention that “aircon” has an extra charge. (85 euros 2 weeks)
you are then instructed to take your own luggage to your room.
whilst the bedroom is spacious, (unless extra bedding/cot required) some more elderly guests may prefer a couple of easy chairs, and a table perhaps. some guests may also be disappointed with no tv, or telephone, and having a noisy fridge.
the aircon unit in our room was very inefficient
tip: leave sliding door open a fraction, turn on aircon, leave key in slot. go out have a good time. come back several hours later; enter through sliding door to cool room. (bit difficult if not on ground floor)
the rooms are not thoroughly cleaned, or at all on sundays. towels are changed twice a week. my wife attempted to get a fresh towel on a sunday, but alas her visit to reception, and subsequent request to angela, was not greeted positively, resulting in us having to use the soiled towels for a few more days. even replacing a spent loo roll was beyond them.
the shower is of ample size, although getting hot water was not always possible.
the positive bit:- good location for town, nice walk 15mins or so. yes there is a small but very steep hill to the aeolos, but fit people will find no problem with it. the aeolos restaurant (near the town) is excellent, if a little expensive by comparison. also has a new supermarket next door.
whilst the aeolos may not be the worst hotel in skala, we will certainly avoid a reservation here the next time we visit skala. we will, i`am sure, prefer the san giorgio, where the standards and service is better, and has the interests, and the comfort of the customer in mind, rather than the owner.

We went to Aeolos end of May / beginnig of June and at 46 years old with some holiday history behind me , I've got to say this is one of the best ( if not THE best ) holiday I have ever had - not to mention my kid and wife who agree.
The staff were really freindly without going over the top and made you feel instantly at home.
The position was ideal for the view and peacefulness as it was just 10 mins. out of the centre (less if you get the horse drawn carriage) and the other guests were Superb.
Angela was great as the host who could facilitaTe to ensure that everyone got to be great friends making it a deffinate place to return to soon.
WHAT MARKS WOULD I GIVE - --- -- 10 OUT OF 10 WITHOUT A DOUBT.
the last time I went to Greece was 10 years ago, but I definately want to go next year

just stayed for two weeks in June 2007 , and was very impressed by the staff and hotel position at the end of Skala beach. I would definately come back again, and have not been to a nicer hotel and resort than Skala. Friendly bar staff and breakfast service . Nice pool with non clorinated water overlooking the sea from it's lofty position in the hillside. A nice aspect of this hotel is that it has no near neighbour, and is very quiet in the evening. The main Skala centre is only a 15 minuite walk away.
An ideal holiday location for couples seeking quieter tavernas and good places to eat. Locals very warm and friendly. Did not have a bad meal all fortnight, and tried 10 of the local eating places. Our favourite was Paspalis on the beach front for it's position overlooking the sea. |

We were very lucky and won our holiday at Aeolos Beach. Angela was a fantastic hostess, and we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were lovely and the accommodation modern, airy and clean! We have never felt more relaxed than we did during our stay!!!!!
We would definitely visit again! |

| We had a lovely stay at Aeolos excellent location if you like it quite but only 15 minutes walk into Skala, plenty of good eating places, would recommend car hire as the scenery around the island is spectactular please see attached web site which gives you a good idea of what to expect

| It is on the road as you leave Scala with the beach on your right. You walk past the other hotels, along the sea front and just past the new one being built. It is a perfect place to stay if you want a slightly quieter stay as the only people who use the bar and pool are the people staying at the hotel. I would be really happy to go back their with our 2 daughters again. |

Aeolos Beach is great - our room was fabulous, great views, clean, good
bathroom, near the pool. We've been to Greece several times (different
islands) and each year we seem to get a better hotel. (Always with
Thomsons). Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Barbara who
cleaned our apartment and George the barman. The kids had a great time.
The location was perfect for us, just outside Skala town. There was no
late-night noise or early morning (except perhaps from me when I went
on my morning walks, sometimes before 8 a.m. but I did try to make as
little noise as possible.) The beach was nice and very close. But our
kids didn'y like the stony beaches - many of the beaches on the island
were stony, but Kaminia beach, in the next bay, Katelios, just a few
kilometres along the coast, was fabulous and never crowded. The turtles
like that beach too and their nests were protected by cages.
We would definitely go to Aeolos again, but we have other islands to explore first.

I read the Web Site reviews before I left for my holiday (8 - 22 September 2005.) and went with great expectations. All of them were fulfilled. A fantastic place for a holiday . Angela and all of the staff were marvellous. The Studios and complex was spotless and very relaxing. Ideally situated. Even the Cats were not a problem in fact the new kittens had us all in raptures. The beach road is not a problem at night and the restaurants in Skala were great. The steaks in the Aeolos were fantastic. We will defintietely return.

Dear Liz,
Angela is again with Thomson for season 2006. Since there is a temporary technical problem with Thomson's internet booking, I suggest you consult Thomson's brochure and try booking by phone.

| What a fantastic holiday. I agree with all other positive comments. The rooms and pool were spotless. The staff very friendly and the food great - often described as light snacks but I would say quite large portions that are served until 9ish. The beach outside, though quick to become deep, was calm and fine for our 2 daughters (10 and 8) though they preferred to stay in the pool to be honest. They was a large selection of novels in the reception library so no need to weigh your case down either.
there are plenty of good tavernas within a 15 minute walk which we quite enjoyed in the cool of the evening after a lazy day. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as the perfect size and location if you want a small and friendly hotel with no one walking off the street to use the facilities as they do with all the hotels along the see front actually in Scala. |

Our 2nd year here. We loved it as much as last year. The new pavement into Skala which is wide and has lights along it is a great addition, just 5 mins from hotel (if that) and hopefully will be extended to Hotel by next year. This hoilday is the best we've ever been on it has the right balance of fun for kids and relaxing time for us. Made lots of new friends and meet up with other returning guests ( we are sure is going to get harder to book as once you've been here you will want to return). Angela and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Hotel is not just clean but spotless. The beach over the road is quite but stoney and sea drops deep very quickly but a short drive away is Kaminia beach which has soft sand and shallow water, ideal for children. We will be going back |
