Makis Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

Wendy S

Nice clean apartments, although the balcony was smaller in ours than in some of the others. But we had a nice view. Lots of steps down to the apartments and they are at the top of a hill near the main street of Skala so not great for people who have walking difficulties. The pool is open to anyone so it can get busy as people staying at apartments nearby without pools tend to use it. There were several noisy and boisterous children in the pool at times which disappointed us as it was an adult choice in the brochure. Staff are friendly and Nicky, our rep was excellent. I'd stay there again.

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

We visited in the afternoon to avoid the tour bus crowds and it was nice and quiet and the colours of the lake were still beautiful. Stunning, in fact. Look out for the water reflecting patterns onto the walls of the cave.

Anti Samos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Beautiful place, but busy. Wasps were a pain. We went to the cafe and were bothered by wasps all the time cos they nest in the roof.  We also found the cafe to be v. expensive. The prices there were also double what they are anywhere else. There's a caravan selling drinks and snacks at the near end of the beach (as you approach from the road from Sami) which is far more reasonable. So don't bother with the cafe, except to use the loos which are at the side but had wasps in them too.

Fiskardo - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Pretty place, but a little 'up it's own' for my liking. I agree that shopkeepers were not as friendly. Perhaps it's because they are assured customers cos the place is a tourist hot-spot. Prices are inflated. The postcards I bought were double the price than they were in Poros. But it's worth a visit. Just don't do your souvineer shopping there. Do visit the little museum.
