Beware!!!!!!!!!!

The swimming pool that you see is a fraud!!!It does not exist. It is located to another hotel rigth near this one where the residents of "BELLA VISTA" are not allowed to swim there!!!When we got there and asked about the swimming pool the owner told us that we could use the swimming pool of another hotel another km away from ours!!!!!!!This is not definately a hotel that you can enloy the swimming pool!!!!!!!!

We stayed this year at the Bella Vista for the second time and loved the position. Yes, we had to hire a car for the duration because nothing is close. We did walk to Lassi on a couple of evenings when we were both likely to have a tipple or two but got cabs back. The taxis are cheap and frequent with friendly drivers. The town of Argostoli is lively and cosmopolitan with a range of good quality restaurants, mostly Italian. There is even an Indian but we wouldn't ever go there. We ate out on all but one night and apart from one occasion the service was friendly and as fast or slow as you wished. We were constantly surprised at the good value in the restaurants we visited.

The apartment was clean, well equipped with everything working and large enough for the two of us. I don't know how people with kids managed but they did. The aircon was essential on some nights. The pool is lovely and there was rarely anyone else there when we were. The other visitors were mostly Italian and they usually used it late.
Marina, who looks after the apartments is very helpful. The pool used to close at 6.30 but she only locks up when it's empty. There is no pool bar or entertainment but that suits us because we have all we need in the fridge which was new and very efficient.
The thing I love most is how friendly everyone is. A bit like Majorca 30 years ago. We felt like locals because the shopkeepers and waiters greeted us like visiting relatives. I'll certainly return to Kefalonia and will stay at the Bella Vista.

We thought the appartments where nice, yes the Bella Vista does seem the poor cousin to Panorama, BUT the Bella Vista has Air Con, where as the Panorama does not, nice and relaxing, but as with most Greek Islands you do need a car, up over the hill, past the Italian war memorial into Agastoli takes only a few miniuites in the car, and is an easy drive back at night.

The appartments where clean and everything worked, you even get a saftey deposit box in your room free of charge. there is a quite nice beach just past the lighthouse going towards Agastoli on the bottom road, is seems quite sheltered and shallow forthe kids, seems like some of the locals use it as well.
My only moan for want of a better word, was the pool open times 10:30 till 6, so if you want a swim before brekkie or after you have returned from a hot day out forget it, and for some strange reason the guy IS obsesive about showering BEFORE entering the pool, I have no idea why, if he thinks it will wash off your suntan lotion well 90% now are water proof and will not come off with a quick sprinkle under a cold shower, don't understand the reasoning behind this obsesion, still, we where never on time for the pool any way, bar once!!!
As for pushing beds together, we did and nobody said a word, just seperated them before we left on departure day.

On arrival at Bella Vista apartments we were shown in by the owner, to be told the fridge did not work but to try it anyway. It discharged a brown liquid on to the floor until it was replaced 3 days later. Bella Vista Aptmts look like the poor cousins to Panorama Aptmts next door, whose pool you are allowed access to. Fanari itself is a beautiful spot and very quiet, and I mean quiet. the nearest shop is at least 1/2 hour walk away, decent beaches are a 15 min drive away in Lassi. We spent about 150 Euros on taxis in the week we were there just to get to beaches and into Argostoli at night, because there is absolutely nothing to do in Fanari itself.

Bella Vista is located 10 minutes or so from Lassi or Argostoli by car and close to several beaches. It is in a very pretty setting surounded by gardens with a sea view across the bay to Luxori. The only sounds you will hear will be the goats' bells nearby and crickets in the trees! Sounds idyllic doesn't it? Be warned however, do not enter the pool unless you have showered first-Gerry will tell you in no uncertain terms and do not think about pushing the beds together-his wife will be up those stairs before you can say holiday romance. Happy Holiday!!
