Accommodation in Lassi

Just got back from a 2 week holiday here. First week great, as we used the nearby beach (daughter suffers from ear infections so pool was not an option for 1st week), water is crystal clear and lovely. 2nd week not so good started using pool, big notice board in reception stating that the pool is for residents of Silo only and outsiders are not welcome. Unfortunately they didn't enforce this and each day we had approx 12-15 Italian youths come in and take it over. They gave no thought to the residents who were already there and were allowed to be there. Kicking a football around (witnessed it actually hitting a lady, who was sitting at the pool bar at the time, on the back of her head with quite a whack), bombing in the pool, intimidating other pool users, using their lilo's in such a way that should you get in the way, tough. We got told to F"@* Off on more that one occasion and was told by another resident who had foreign language knowledge, that they were shouting out the same F.off but in Italian frequently and then laughing. We and others complain on more than one occasion but nothing was ever done. Complained to both the Owner and the Thomson rep. We went there because we thought it would be a reasonably quiet and relaxing place to go to, and with its own EXCLUSIVE pool. We was obviously wrong. We will NOT be going back. One nice thing though, they have some nice cats there of which there were 2 sets of kittens. They were all very friendly, which was nice ( mind you one of the male cats did do a poo on my son's bed, there we were at 12 midnight one evening washing the bed covers and drying them with the hair dryer provided, it was actually hilarious and gave us a nice stress release in the second week, it sounds weird I know but that's us!!!!). You can tell how bad it was when, after 5 days of this we were all wishing the days to pass so we could go home. Not the sort of thing you want to do when you have waited all year for your annual holiday!

We have stayed at the Silo five times over the last six years and have always found the apartments spotless, good size rooms and good kitchen facilities, the two pools are well maintained and the food and drink at the snack bar are excellent quality and not overpriced we would recommend these apartments to anyone. Maria and her team are very helpful. There are two beaches close by, you should also hire a car and visit Fiskardo, Skala, Sami and our favorite Agia Efimia. Kefallinia is the most beautiful of the Greek Islands Paul & Jackie

Just returned from a week's holiday at the Silo Apartments in Lassi, Maria  the owner  was very wecoming, the apartment were clean and large, we were a party of nine, with three young boys, who absolutly loved the two pools, snacks at the bar were good but a bit expensive, but every where in Lassi was expensive, especially the airport, take snacks with you. Beaches were lovely,  everywere was quiet even at the end of May, which suited us. Not really suitable for teenager, as not a lot to do in the night. My only crititism is the food on the strip was all very much the same, went for breakfast on the first day at the Chinese and it was swimming in grease, and at 6 euro per person it was expensive, we managed to find a lovely resteraunt on the last night, (it always happens on the last night) it was called Phedras. Well worth a visit.  Some our our party wents on the bus tour to Mellassini Caves, they said the views were breathtaking, just a word of warning , if you are in a wheelchair (as I am) it is totally unsuitable, loads and loads of steps.  I am glad I have visit Kefalonia,  but a bit to hilly for my needs, lucky I had my husband and two strapping lads with me to push my up the hills. Silo Apartments are great for couples and young families, would love to go back but to hilly.

just got back from spending amazing two weeks at the silo apartments (15th july-29th 08). The apartments are very spacious in a well kept gardens. They are very clean and the staff are ok Viva who comes on at 4 in the eveings is great also good for a chat. The pool bar serves good meals but can be expensive. There are two good size pools which you can use both. It is a good walk to the main strip and can be very dark walking back at night so take a touch. The beach is not to far away we walked there the back way which is to the back of hotel its more sheltered this way. We will be back to the silo lovely holiday.

Just got back from Silo Studios, lovely quiet peaceful location.

Two lovely swimming pools next to each other and we were not told we could only use one. Both pools and poolsides deserted, we usually had the pools to ourselves.
The studios nicely decorated but beds very hard and bottom studios no privacy when you sit outside, balconey ones best but still no divider between studios, small TV, jug kettle and toaster included.
Lovely beaches nearby, Antonio was the nearest, only a few minutes away - you could go back to apartment for lunch or break from sun.
Other beaches maybe five minutes further but more crowded
 with water sports.
Road leading to Argostoli also short walk away with  plenty of Taverna's to choose from.
Argostoli about 40mins walk away but bus runs every hour.
Most suitable for couples wanted a quiet relaxing holiday.

We've been to lots of Greek islands before but never Kephalonia. We decided Lassi was a good place to base ourselves and we weren't disappointed.  We had looked on this website and read Ron & Helen Green's review of the Silo Apts available through Argo. We liked what we read and booked a couple of weeks. The transfer was only ten minutes -ideal with a 7 year old in tow.  Set back from 'the strip', they were devoid of traffic noise and only a short stroll to the beach. The room was better than ones we've had previously in Greece and included a twin hob, full size fridge, bath with a shower incorporated in it, satellite TV (but only BBC World News and a Greek channel)and air conditioning (charged locally at 4 euros daily).  We don't bother with organised trips but the Argo rep Patricia was very helpful.
The twin beds were very 'firm' as was the sofabed provided for our son.  We weren't able to tuck his sheets under so they tended not to stay on him at night but it wasn't a huge problem.  The shower was very powerful and never ran short of hot water even late at night.
We self-catered through the day using local produce and tasty bread - Vagaletis store on the 'strip' was reasonable and the man that runs it is friendly and amusing.  At night we strolled out to the 'strip' which is the road to Argostoli and has 30 tavernas along it. We tried five and they all had good points, although overall we thought Monte Nero was the best and Ionio second. Whereever you go there seems to be little in the way of vegetables however.  Still we never left any taverna without feeling full and the three of us usually ate for 32 - 36 euros for three courses, half litre house wine, beers and bottled water included.
In the mornings we favoured the smaller Antonia beach because Makrys Gialos was wall-to-wall sun loungers. Having reached the Antonio beach we walked a short distance north, nearer to the Hotel Mediterranee, where we found gentle sloping sand and calm waters ideal for children. The Greeks also like it here - particularly on weekends when it gets very busy by noon.
During the afternoon we stayed around the pool which was smallish but bordered by the much larger and superior pool for guests of the Thalassa Hotel recently built right alongside without any partition.  The Thalassa was even better looking than the Silo, but seemed to have only Italian companies using it.  Although you weren't supposed to, we frequented their larger pool which was superb.
We hired a car through the Argo rep at a very reasonable 115 euros for 4 days.  It was a tiny Daihatsu Chore with air-con.  (You'll definately need a/c in July!) We toured all over the island and would recommend anyone to do the same.  The roads are good and traffic light.  Our favourite places were Myrtos beach, Petani beach, Assos village and the ferry ride back from Lixouri.  We thought 'Xi' beach was far too commercial and busy.
While we had the car we usually ate in Argostoli each evening.  Be careful where you park if you arrive before 8pm because the central bits are then closed with barriers to make it pedestrianised. We enjoyed strolling around the capital for a change to Lassi and there's some great places to eat.
We don't usually go back to the same place twice but this time you never know!

I stayed at these apartments last September and they were really nice. The rooms were very spacious and had a new feel about them, modern and very clean. Lovely outside area with swimming pool and bar. Surroundings quiet and peaceful in an ideal location. Could not fault them at all.

These apartments seemed to be brand new with the 3 bed studios more like those you expect in Spain - lovely big rooms with air conditioning and pretty balconies. The location is excellent just next to the idyllic Antonio beach and within 5 mins from the main Lassi beach. The stroll into town took us no more than about 7mins, which was great. We had a fab time and would highly recommend this accomodation.
