My wife and I went to Liberatos in 2002 and again 2008 both holidays we had a great time the owner was very friendly and very accommodating he also arranged a car hire at a competitive rate the accommodation was clean and comfortable and the view from our balcony was amazing. The restaurants in and around Lassi were excellent especially agostolli, we also visited Fiskardo and Scala both very beautiful we are planning to go back there this year and hopefully get the same room with that wonderful view.

Hi All!

just reading all the comments left so far! ive been to kefalonia many times and not once has there been any problems, the locals are great, the views and beaches are stunning. the apartments are typically greek. one of the main reasons people go to kefalonia is to have a relaxing holiday, they dont want commercialised impersonal chain hotels. the apartments are simple, the way they should be. whilst your all moaning about them being poor all the rest of us are out enjoying the atmosphere and the beautiful island.

also people are reading these comments to help them choose a resort to stay at, so it would be more benficial to write about THIS resort, rather than argue about others (OSKAR). anybody who is just looking for a place to have a childish rant should NOT be visitng this site!

Anybody visiting this site for information about kefalonia?
its beautiful, a real gem! perfect for a relaxing family holiday, with friendly people, amazing scenery and beaches, fantastic food. A perfect taster of the greek way of life!

Thanks, Soph and Leanne!

Liberatos Village looks beautiful on the outside and has a stunning views - it should have it take 15 mins to climb up to it from the road - and it's a hard climb! It only costs 5 eros to take a taxi up any time you go out and I would recommend you do this.  If you hire a car you'll find it will only take this hill in first gear and coaches can't get up it so you'll probably have to change from your airport coach to a taxi - as we did.

Our appartment was dirty. Only one bath towel was supplied for two people.  There was no hot water available until 10pm on the day of our arrival (at 1pm) and no hot water on any late afternoon or evening. The bed cover was torn.  The plumbing was faulty and the toilet cistern filled all night making a racket. The cupboard door handles broke off in our hands. The kettle was downright dangerous - cheap and nasty with a short flex which, due to lack of points, meant it could only be used by placing it on the very edge of the work surface with the spout facing outward. My partner scalded his hand.  The shop charges at least twice the price you will pay if you want to walk down to the road. To be fair most of these things were put right when we complained but who wants to spend their entire holiday complaining!

My bother & sister in law went last year  and had a great time, We was down the road at another place which was very good too. We would leave the girls at the pool side talking to others and we was off in the jeep around the island. the appartment was great clean & tidy, beds & lining change. If you wanted air con you would have to pay extra. George the owner is a great guy and would be seen at the bar or in the office. His staff were very friendly too, George jr would run the bar at night and do a bit of greek dancing between orders lol

We have booked for this year through thomsons for 2007 in previous years it was kosmar

Hi all

Well I just got back yesterday from spending two weeks at liberatos village and me and my boyfriend had an excellent time. Fair enough we didn't spend a lot of time in the apartment complex but when we did it was always clean and enjoyable. The walk down the hill only took us just over five minutes, but the walk up took about ten to fifteen minutes.

The pool is clean and warm, however there are some freaks who spend all day every day at the pool and they do hog the sun loungers and umbrellas endlessly. You know the ones they get up at ridiculous time like seven or eight and come down claim their bed and them they are back off to bed. Never mind!

View from apartment was also excellent. We stayed in block E.

Hi all

Just been reading the comments from the last year regarding liberatos village. It is 12 - 18 months since we last went but we had a fantastic time. We have been twice to the same complex, once in a studio and the second time in one of the newer apartment but had a great holiday in both types of accomodation. We have stayed in many places in Greece but none were as good as this one and just wonder whether some people have been to the same place as we have jusging from their comments.
We were planning on going back next year however, i have just read that Dennis has left - he really made the holiday for us. He was great fun, got everyone talking and not just the single girls as someone said, we were a couple and he introduced us to all the other couples. The owner was fantastic - even offered us a free room when we didn't want to go home - that is service! Really sad dennise has left but wish him all the luck in the future.

Do not be put off by any bad reviews on this site as Liberatos is a superb village, yes the shop is expensive but you are paying for convenience, you don't have to buy fromt here!

Have a great time!

Me, my friend and her family visited Kefalonia about 4 years ago and stayed in Liberatos Village...what can I say, we loved it! Although I have noticed this msg is a liiiiitle bit late, all the more counts I suppose. I enjoyed it that much that a friend and I are comming back in July this year and staying there again! Glad to hear that George, Mikey and Dennis are still there, although I doubt you will remember me! What about Alberto, has he gone now? Look forward to seeing you all, infact...cant wait! Laura x

Had a great holiday last year. Establishment was first class.

Hello, to all the people I met!  This is Dennis, I have worked here for 6 years and it was great fun and I left simply because I wanted a change and to work some place else.  However, I would love to contact Laura Carter, the girl who let loads of messages for Liberatos, and me.  This is my number if you happen to read this Laura - 0030 6973539201

Stayed here first week in September and had read some bad reports about cleansliness.  However what a surprise, we stayed in K block and everything was clean and tidy.  (only bad thing to say is we've never stayed in such a hard bed, it was like sleeping on the floor.  We ended up putting blankets on matress to soften it up a little).

All in all Liberatos was a great place to stay, pool area was spotless together with bar, supermarket etc.
Would definately recommend.

James M

We had a superb time in Liberatos Village.  The cleanliness left something to be desired but we found 30 minutes scrubbing and wiping did the trick!  The location and views were out of this world, the hill IS STEEP but a taxi costs 5 euros so no complaints there.  George the bar tender has to be the friendliest and most generous bar tender we have ever met on holiday.. saw him in Argosoli one day and he sat with us and bought us a drink.  Olga is friendly once you get to know her and George (the owner) and Mikey are great chaps too.  The gardener (a Russian chap) has to be seen on barbecue night to be believed.. and English men think they are bad dancers!

All in all a superb holiday made better by the fact we enjoyed our stay in Liberatos Village so much.  One tip has to be to hire a car (do this through George - much cheaper) to enjoy the whole of Kefalonia.  We must add that Alex our Kosmar tour rep is a superb guy - any problems, just go to him.

For anyone that stayed whilst we did (james & katie - long haired guy and girl with the afro!) we have sent the letter of complaint about the gentleman in room 3b (BOO!) to Kosmar so he should be unable to get any compensation!

If you are after a trendy continental night out go to Argostoli, 5 euros in a taxi and a very cultured night out.

This is the second time we havebeen to Liberatos.  George and Mikey were friendlyand fabulous.  Any problems were sorted out immediately but were onlyminorsonocomplaints at all.  I want to go back to Kefalonia and will definitely try to stay in Liberatos.  Staff very friendly - but obviously you have to be friendly and reasonable too as in any place.  We felt they were friends after only a few days.  See you soon Mikey and George.  Love our stays at Liberatos - keep up the good work.

Michelle W

We have been back a week and we had a fantastic time!  It is the second time we have been there and it was still great.  Our friends joined us the second week and we all ended up in the same block(which was F block which i think is the best) thanks to Alex the Kosmar rep!!!!  Everything we requested when we booked we got, near the pool, balcony, sea view!!  Olga and George the bar staff are great when you get to know them!! The BBQ they do on a thursday night is a definate must value for money and a good night. If you have any complaints then tell Alex or Mikey the manager cause they will do every thing they can to fix it.  Cant wait to go again.

Read alot before going to Liberatos Village some good and some not so good coments, my advice to anyone visiting is keep an open mind! The staff were friendly, the apartment o.k scenery fabulous, pool really great did'nt have to get up at the crack of dawn for a sunbed!   A car is a must to visit all the wonderful places on kephalonia Sami beach is the most idilic place we've ever been in Greece. Booked online before going £198.00 for two weeks at Eurocar.com

Snacks at the pool bar very reasonable and good, from 3.00 euros to 4.50 euros although drinks from the bar a bit expensive.

Only 5.00 euros for a taxi into Argostoli nice places to eat especially Captains Table, chicken bronze is lush.
Our two children had a wonderful holiday and made lots of new friends. Beach shoes for all are a must if you plan a beach holiday most of the beaches despite the brochures saying there sandy are mostly peable.

the accomodation was clean and spacious we were in k block which was quiet and had lovely views. The only down side was the price of the bar and on site shop so we bought our supplies from the local shop instead. The bar maid during the day olga was miserable and rude so not many drinks were bought. The pool was lovely which made a good base with the family.Overall a relaxing holiday on top of the mountain! which did provide a constant breeze

Emma W

On arrival our room had not been cleaned, toilet was dirty, work surfaces dirty, dishes not washed.  The standard did not get much better throughout the holiday, and even though we complained on several occasions and were told the room would be cleaned, they still didn't bother doing it. The owner was a very rude man. We have stayed in several other apartments in Lassi, which were all fantastic. We would never go back to Liberatos again, there are much better apartments and much nicer owners who deserve your money than this place.

Slook M

Well the views were nice. The owner (George) was a very rude man. A typical greek. The rooms were ok for the price. The bar was good because it was right there open really late most of the time. The bartender (Dennis) was a bit annoying. One of the other guests told me he was Albanian, that is probably why he is annoying. Kefallonia is a beautiful place, lots of great beaches. Mokey form Finnica showed us a very good time.

Chris E

last time we went to liberatos it was fantastic we went june 2003.we are going again in july this year so hope it is still ok.does anyone know if the kosmar reps still offer the trips out on the glass bottom boat?is the cost the same it was about 50 euros.

Allison A

We have just retruned from a week in Kefalonia. After doing a lot of research we chose to book Liberatos Village in Lassi.
Our 1st day was ruined. The apartment we were given was appalling, more basic than a prison cell & absolutely filthy with unsafe electrics. We did not even have a kettle & this was a self catering apartment.
The owner was aggressive & rude when challenged on this. We decided not to stay & after several hours discussing the situation with our tour rep (when we would have preferred to be exploring)we were moved to Mouikis Village at Lakithra and the standard was far superior, a lovely complex with great staff & excellent standards of cleanliness but sadly not in the resort we booked.
Despite all of this we loved Kefalonia & would return to this beautiful island but certainly not to Liberatos Village.
Apart from the many comments from young girls which makes it difficult for couples & families to assess the standards rather than the bar staff, the key point coming out of this website is that the standards are inconsistent. Some of you had a great time, whilst we refused to spend 1 night there. I am not prepared to gamble with my hard earned money & holiday time and will book very differently in future. I hope those of you returning are not put in L block & would wish you all great holidays in the future.

We arrived at the Liberatos Village and were taken by George the owner to a room in the newer apartments furthest away from the pool, initially we were both really disappointed with the standard of accomodation in this particular room. It seemed really small and the light in the bathroom had been smashed and not replaced. So our first impressions weren't too good but we knew that we wouldn't be spending much time in the apartment and got the holiday at a bargain price booking it idependantly.

We were then moved to a different apartment due to a mix up with Thomas Cook and couldn't believe how lucky we were to have ended up in the first apartment block next to the pool with a stunning uniterupted sea view. The apartment itself was really spacious and clean. I would only rate it as average because the bathroom was in need of a total referb, towels and bedding were only replaced a few times during our stay and the apartments didn't have air con.

Lassi itself was a great resort with beautiful beaches, loads of good restaurants to choose from and was pretty cheap. The hill up to the apartments was no problem for us but as mentioned before would be really difficult for someone with walking difficulties or the elderly.

I would definately recommend hiring a car/jeep as there are loads of others resorts and places of interest to visit. We visited as many places as we could in the 3 days we had the jeep. Fiskardo, Sami, Loudras, Lixouri, Scala and Ithaki as well as Myrtos beach are all worth visiting. Myrtos beach was amazing when we visited with 8ft high waves, too dangerous for swimming but an amazing experience.

Argostoli was my favourite place with a lot of bars and restaurants to choose from, a great place. We went there 3 nights and only costs 5 euros in a taxi to get back to the apartments. You can walk into Argostoli but beacuse the taxis were so cheap it isn't really worth walking in and the pavements are non existent in places, can be a bit dodgy with the greek drivers, some of them are pretty crazy.

We would definately visit Kefalonia again in a few years but won't be staying at the Liberatos Village, there is much better accomodation on offer.

Alan F

We have just returned from Liberatos Village.
For a studio flat costs 60 Euro, this beds 3 people, for an 4 bed appt this costs 75 Eur (approx £43 per night). We found by phoning direct and only organising the flights was a lot cheaper than going through agencies.

True, the pool bar is empty most of the time due to expense but we were off travelling to different beaches (esp Myrtos) most days via Lidls supermarket.

I cant w8 T

i goin 2 kefalonia in 13 dayz (8th of august) and i cant w8 do u think the weather will be good and are there lots of water sports coz i love the water? also i'm 13 years old do u think i'll meet people and make friends? I CANT W8!!!!!!! it guna b GREAT!!!!

Tom H

We have just returned from liberatos and we had a really nice time although the prices for the pool bar were abit expensive which is why it was empty most of the time a small amstels was 2:50 euros wen u can get a big bottle for 90cent in lassi.we did really enjoy it but the pool bar staff werent friendly and it was always empty would we go bck to lassi? yes would we go bck to liberatos? no but kefalonia is a really nice island and i do recomend it

Sharon L

My friend and I are planning a 10 day visit in September. Can anyone please give a price range for the accomodation? We have absolutely no idea what to expect.
This would be vital information as we are both students at university.
Thanks in advance,
Sharon.
