Pefanis Studios

We stayed at the Pefanis Studios in Kefalonia last week and I wish I was still there! Studios are up a steep hill and it takes 10-15 minutes to walk down to the resort centre, but think of the calf muscles! It is definately a place to stay if you want peace and quiet. There is a noise from the water system but as we were in room 6 at the end of the block it wasn't that bad. Can imagine it may be quite noisy if you are in the room directly underneath though. The view from our balcony was fantastic. There are lemon, lime, plum and olive trees in the garden just below and we could see the sea and another part of the island. Watching the sunset behind the mountains was great. The rooms do have air conditioning which is payable daily or weekly, but we found that if you opened the front and back doors( which you could as it is very private) there was a lovely breeze going through the room. If you can face walking further up the hill you can go to St. Gerasimos church and further up there are some apartments with a pool which you can use, and the views are even better from here. Would love to go back in the future! (yes we did have to buy our own toilet roll!) | ||||||||||

Cheap, basic, slightly shabby but clean. Backs onto a pleasant citrus grove. Cool wind off the sea is nice, but not much view. Hill down to Lassi is steep but not too long. Big beaches within 20 mins walk. Mosquitos can be a bit of a problem at night. No air con in 2002; doubt its been fitted since. Nice quiet place - animal noises from countryside early am but no traffic. Shower, fridge, cooker rings and (precious little) other equipment all working and clean.
Went with Golden Sun who were low key but ok for our needs. Pefanis staff (1 cleaner) were pleasant and efficient - no English.

| hi i'm going to kefalonia in 5 weeks and i'm staying at the pefanis studios.i'm 17 and going with a friend i would like to know if it is safe to get to the appartments at night and how steep is the hill!! am i stopping some were safe? please reply thanks love kirsty xx | |

| The studios were very basic, even by greek standards, but everything was there for a self catering holiday, and the apaertments are kept very clean, although our maid did not seem keen on leaving toilet paper, even though we religiously used the bin provided and had to buy our own! The location is up a steep hill of about 5-10 min walk depending on how fast you walk, so not for the terminally unfit, but a free phone is located at the appartments to call a taxi. But with the walk comes a peaceful setting with little/no noise at all, apart from what I think was something to do with the solar water heater on the roof kept on making a PESHWOSH noise every minute, 24 hrs a day which I thought would be a problem, but never seemed to hinder my sleep, and that sort of thing normally would. At the end of the day, the Pefanis Studios ain't 5* luxury, but your not paying those kind of rates are you! So for a cheep apartment, I would certainly go back again. (Although I might try and get hold of the management to sort out the noisy pluming!!! | ||||||||||

| These are the best studios you will find in the area. They are kept very clean and have everything you need to make your stay good. | ||||||||||
