First the positives;

lovely little family run apartments with superb sea views
spacious rooms, cleaned up to 6 times per week, great power shower, brilliant for getting rid of that sand!
Fantastic staff, with Billy and Yannis making sure that everyone has a good holiday
Short walk (Approx. 20 Minutes down a slight hill) into Skala
Superb home-cooked food (especially the moussaka)

Right, the negatives;

The First Choice breakfast is very basic, a choice of toast, toast or toast, the hotel provide complimentary cornflakes, surely first choice can pay the hotel more and get some muesli, Greek yogurt and fruit. Even some boiled eggs!.

My biggest complaint is the noise, various comments have been raised about this on several review websites, for us we can only comment on what we experienced, we stayed in block 20/21/22 and  were opposite the pool area and even with the shutters, window and air-con on  we could still hear the music or signing etc from the pool area, which on some nights went on until 4am, the worst being on first night when after being up since 0200 the night before was a bit unwelcome to say the least, twice we had to go down and request that the music be turned down. On Speaking to Billy the next morning he did say that it is a lively bar with the music and signing going on until 5am. I explained that we shouldn't have to shut the shutters and windows and turn on the air-con in order to drown out the noise to which Billy didn't give a plausible reply. Out of the 7 nights we were there, we returned back to the hotel most nights past 0100 to find that there were on occasions 4 or less people in the pool area with the music banging out and having people to shout to one another in order to hold down a conservation.

I'd say to anyone wanting a quiet nights sleep to look elsewhere, a 'Buyer Beware' if you like, unless you want to have the air-con on and windows shut which is a real shame because the hotel doesn't need to have a night-club feel to it.

That said the Weather, choice of restaurants and beach make up for the lack of quality sleep. However if we go to Skala again it wont be to the Pelagos Bay unless the Hotel look to address this problem.

Got back yesterday from our 2 weeks in the sun at Pelagos Bay, Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said. The hotel is beautiful, lovely, clean rooms with great views- kettles and fridges supplied for those cuppas in the mornings and cool drinks in the heat of the day. Air con included in the price, not a nasty extra you find out about when you arrive! And a lovely, welcoming family that run the place. Billy, Barbara, Yannis, Anne-Marie, Andy and all of the others are so friendly and helpful, they can't do enough for you. if you wish to socialise they are there for you and alternatively if you want to keep yourself to yourself then that is also fine. Great swimming pool with plenty of beds, (no getting up at the crack of dawn to put your towels down!) Also theres a table tennis table, pool table, children's small playground, giant chessboard and connect 4 and board games you can borrow. If you have any problems they are sorted immediately and efficently with a smile. The food on sale at lunchtimes was v good and the bbq evening a night def not to be missed. Yannis, behind the bar kept everyone entertained. as did Billy!. It took us about 30 mins to walk to the bottom of Skala High Street, (but that was a v slow walk in thestill  hot evenings!) The pebble bay opposite the hotel was beautiful with v clear water, lovely for snorkelling. We had a truly lovely time here and if we return to Kefalonia I don't think I would consider staying anywhere else!

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Pelagos Bay, after a 7 hour delay getting there all the tavernas were shut. Billy made us so welcome with beers and cheese toasties!

The hotel is lovely and clean and the barman Yanni is a legend with his noisy 'yammas' shouted serving every drink. The barbecue night was great, so much food and it never seemed to stop coming round, entertainment was fab too.

It's a good 25 minute stroll into the town centre, works up a good appetite, and if coming back in the dark I would recommend a taxi as the road is unlit for the last 10 minutes or so and the drivers are mad!

We hired a car from the airport for the week, worked out cheaper to do that than pay for airport transfers with the tour company then hire a car for 2 or 3 days in the town as the average price for 2 days hire was 80 euros. Some beautiful beaches and places to see, can't wait to go back next year.

Brilliant holiday, really fantastic. Already have booked up for next year. They all make you feel so welcome but will leave you alone if you want that. We didnt find it loud at all with shutters shut. brill hotel.

We have just returned from a really relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Pelagos Bay. The hotel is one of the best we have stayed in , really clean and very well equiped, the staff friendly and really seem to enjoy looking after you! All the rooms have excellent views out to sea, the air conditioning was  a real god send in the heat. As the hotel is small, around 27 rooms, you soon get to know fellow guests and there is a lovely friendly, relaxed atmosphere about the place. Kefalonia is not the cheapest of the greek islands, we did find drinks and ice creams a bit pricey here, so take plenty of cash if you go - the euro is having an affect! The location of the hotel is such that it is a good 20 min walk into main scala , which is ok at night but in heat of the day exhausting, so car hire is recomended or use local taxi at 5 euro. We were sad to leave this little gem of a place and would definitly recommned it to anyone.

We have just returned from a week at the Pelagos Bay, and i can truly say its the best holiday we have ever had.  Billy, Barbara and the rest of the family made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were fantastic.  The pool and rooms are immaculate and the food is lovely.  The BBQ was a night to remember, the food was superb and the entertainment was brillant.  We met lots of friends and all said they would definitely be returning.  Billy really is the best host, he genuinely cares about all his guests and will go out of his way for you to make sure you are having a nice time.  I wasnt feeling too good one evening and Billy made sure that i had everything i needed and was comfortable as possible, he continued to ask how i  was for the next couple of days, its not often you get this type of service!!!

My boyfriend says that Billy is a legend and believe me he is right.  I cried on the way home, even after a week you  feel that you are a true friend to the family and i cant wait to return.  Billy, Barbara & family & staff thank you for giving us such a wonderful experience.

Went to Pelagos last year and we had the most amazing holiday. We can honestly say it was the best holiday of our lives.  Pelagos Bay to us has everything, a holiday with a homely feel.  The homely feel is made quite obviousI  by Billy barbara Yannis and Vassoulla. Plus the rest of the family!!!! Even Billys father turned up and I got a hug from him. Truly warm and wonderful. Us Brits have got a lot to learn. There is not one aspect of the holiday hotel pool etc that we can say was only moderate it was all excellentThe BBQ as others before me have said is beautiful, the food even how they make the tables flowery and pretty.Just book it and go, I bet you'll be writing a comment similar to this when you come back!!

One Problem ---------- the more I tell others about this little piece of heaven I will not be able to book in myself!!!!  Linda and Robin Freestone, Nuneaton, Warwickshire

John and I have just come back from a wonderful weeks holiday at Pelagos Bay, from the moment you walk in through the door you feel you are amongst friends and very relaxed.  Billy, Barbara, Yanis and Vassoula are determined that you should enjoy yourselves and you do, the hospitality is second to none

Every aspect of the hotel is well cared for and clean, and anyone who has complained about the noise in the evening are either simply misguided or boring old f*rts   Shut the patio door and you don't hear a thing, well we didn't, but then we were probably one of the last to go to bed

The food is excellent, a must is the Club Sandwich, and one of the best nights you will experience is the BBQ night, food cooked by Billy and crew is excellent, but you do need an empty stomach because they don't like waste!!  The evening is followed by excellent entertainment and laughs abound, but be prepared to end up in the pool, just don't go commando like my husband with his wet trousers sticking to him as he climbed back out

If you want a quieter night, try an evening with Yanis to CHILL and RELAX, but be prepared to wear one of his wigs or beer goggles

You meet lots of people from all walks of life, but all with one thing in common to have fun!  People like Rachel and Stuart (from Saff Londan!), Tony and Carole, Tim and Julie and Dave and Amanda to name just a few, and the kind of people you hope to stay in touch with. Infact some of us are already planning a reunion, much to Billy's despair probably.  John and I have already booked for 2 weeks next July and we had only been back 3 days.

My only complaint is that eventually you do have to return to reality, and it feels like a penance  I even cried on the coach back to the Airport.

I don't want to continue praising this fantastic place anymore, because then everyone will know and find out for themselves, and when we come to book again there will be no room at the Inn.

Talk about the best holiday ever, the hotel was great, the pool was great, the bar was great and the staff where more than great, our only complaint was 1 week was not enough, so we have already booked to go back next year for 2 more in July, so warn the locals.

We were given a friendly welcome and all the staff bent over backwards to help you enjoy your stay, they are all full of life and fun, epically Yannis behind the bar who will keep you amused all evening and Vasoula (or is it her mad twin sister Angela) who just loves kids and always has time to stop and play.

Billy and Barbara with there 2 children were wonderful and made our little girl feel part of the family. What a wonderful place.

The apartments are situated just outside Skala (a cab or 15-20 min walk away), which makes it perfect for those relaxing quite days by the pool. We highly recommend the weekly BBQ, don't eat in advance as there is loads of food, dancing and fun to be had by all well in to the night. But if you did want an early night then all you have to do is shut the balcony door and not a sound is heard.

I can't go on enough about this place, it really feels like home from home you just have to try it.

Donna and I arrived back at Manchester Airport on Tuesday with a very heavy heart  We have just spent a wonderful week at Pelagos Bay We have made some fantastic new friends (PAULA THAT MEANS YOU!!) and I haven't laughed so much fun in ages.

I booked this holiday only a month before we went and I too read through all the comments on this site having never been to Kefalonia before and  I decided to opt for Pelagos Bay.  I made the right choice. I can't imagine staying anywhere else other than Pelagos Bay.  Even the name brings a lump to my throat.

What a beautiful place Kefalonia is.  Pelagos Bay itself is in an ideal location being just outside the village. It's absolutely spotless and the food was lovely. It has it's own cove where you can relax, swim and snorkel (or in my case, have numerous panic attacks trying!) OK there were times when people were in the pool late (not mentioning any names DONNA ) But that's what holidays are all about!! But you make allowances!

Billy and Barbara made us feel very welcome and were so helpful AND there IS a friendly atmosphere there, where's the harm in that??!!  After reading the few negative comments on this site, I've come to realise that some people just don't understand what this place is all about. Why do people have to have their guard up all the time?  As Yianni would say 'RELAX AND CHILL'!!

Hand on heart, I can honestly say that I wish I was back beside the pool at Pelagos Bay, with a glass of Shandy Rock and a cheese and tomato toasty.

Kefalonia is beautiful and so are its people. There will always be a place in our hearts for Pelagos Bay

Thank you Billy, Barbara, Vassoula and Yianni, Ayeesha and everyone else for such a wonderful time.  We're definately coming back (I can just see Billy bolting the doors this very minute

Jan J

We stayed at Pelagos for a week in May, for the first time, and had a great time. Yes, loads of people were there who had been before, but it's not hard to just muck in and feel part of the group. If you don't want to, that's fine as well. I could write a great long essay about the negative comments of previous posts, but it's not really worth it.

I've stayed in many hotels in the Greek Islands, of differing ratings and standards, and this is one of the best. It is small, and fmaily run- if you know Greece, that should tell you all you need to know about the high standards and quality of the welcome.

It is a distance from Skala, but we had some lovely romantic walks back under fantastic star-lit skies. The bar could be noisy, but we woke to the sound of goat bells on the hillside. Maybe the barbecue is a bit pricey, but there's plenty to eat and it is good fun.

I left some jewellery there, and emailed Billy on the off-chance they could find it. They did, and posted it back to me within a week. That says everything, really. (Thanks Billy!)

Basically, it depends on your outlook- glass half full or half empty. Go with the flow, relax and enjoy a fabulous setting, a glorious island and good company. No TV in the rooms? So what. You're on holiday.

Got back last night from another brilliant fortnight at Pelagos Bay! Superb time had by all, AGAIN!

It was great to meet with old friends again, as Tony said below, great to see Chrissy and the family again and Maggie and Pete. A bigger group of us again this year with 12 of us for a big part of the holiday but that was no problem for Billy and the gang. It was great to see the surprise arrival of our nephew for his grandma!  I don't know how many times we nearly messed up but she never saw it coming and it was well worth it.
We're missing the place already but look forward to going back again soon. Billy's donuts visit was.... memorable and Adam's late night experiences was interesting to say the least.
Thanks very much Billy and Barbara for having us in your family again, Vasoula - you naughty girl!, Yammas to Yanni, Bam Bam Bleed!and Roula - thanks for your amazing food once again. Finally, thanks to anyone who's reading this who helped to make this another brilliant holiday at Pelagos (Andy+Cassie, Mark+Katie, Pete+Maggie, Amy+Sophie etc, etc, etc).
Cheers
Paul

Just come back from our second stay at 'Billy's Place' and we were sorry to leave.  BUT we have already booked up to go back again next August .

Had another excellent stay there again with our good friends Maggie & Pete, restful and relaxed with a friendly and entertaining host and staff and it was great to see Chrissy, Andy and Lauren again and to meet Jo too.

A big 'YAMMAS' to Billy, Barbara, Vasso and Yanni.

Look forward to seeing you again in 2007.

Well, I am going to do this backwards.  Tony and I are going back to 'Billys House' at Pelagos Bay for the 4th time this coming September and I can hardly wait; again!!!  Everything I get when I go to Billys, is exactly what anyone wants when they go on holiday.  What I look forward to is being treated like royalty from the minute I get off the coach, being led to the bar and from there the pampering starts.  I look forward to laying by the pool, eating Greek salads everyday and having Tia Rulas pancakes on the mornings I need them.  I look forward to riding my scooter everywhere, being waved at by friendly faces, going to the Ship for lovely lazy dinners then to the bar for silly drinks and sometimes karaoke, sometimes quiet indepth converstions.  I look forward to swimming or diving in the ocean, finding a lazy boat to ride in, to discover an island somewhere, or a fast extreme one to energize myself.  On top of all this, taking a well deserved nap every afternoon either by the pool or in my cool room.  What more can I dream of.....  Hurry up September!!!!  See you guys soon.  Love,  Carolita and Tony (Silverback)

Hello,

Had a great time at this place. Everyone really helpful and friendly and offers very good value for money I think. Billy and his team know how to treat people, which is exactly the reason why they have people going back that they class as "friends" so the comments regarding cliquey really do seem to be from people who do not want to get involved, which is fine, but they should not criticise those that want to be part of the atmosphere of Pelagos Bay.

We met some really good people from all parts of the UK and had some terrific banter going on. Just a real fun time all in all and kefalonia really is a beautiful island.

All the best Billy and gang...
