Ermioni Apartments - (Accommodation in Skala)

Emma M          4/10

We have just got back from the Ermioni apartments.
I have to say I wasn't overly impressed. We had noisy neighbours which didn't help, but the apartment wasn't brilliant. The doorframe anad skirting board in the bathroom were mouldy, the shower sprayed all over the toilet so you had to wipe the toilet before using it, and the beds were very hard.
The towels we were given were scraggy rags.

Another downside is that there is no safety deposit box, so we ended up locking out things in a suitcase which we were a bit unsure about.
The best thing about the apartment was how close it was to the centre of Skala, but we wouldn't use these apartments again.

Veto Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Emma M          8/10

We visit Veto's every time we go to Skala. The drinks are reasonable and the atmosphere is good. The staff are very friendly.

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Emma M          10/10

We have just come back from Kefalonia and went on captain Makis' trip on Saturday. This is the third time we have done it, and it was jsut as good this time, if not better as I dont think the trip was full.
We saw the dolphins and they swum at the side of the boat which was just amazing.
The food was great and the mudpack brill. Everyone joined in karaoke on the way back and it was just fantastic.

For the unattached girls, Tim is a bonus as well!!!!

This trip is expensive, but it is one of the highlights of our holiday.

Assos - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Emma M          10/10

We have previously been to Kefalonia twice, but for some reason never visited Assos.
We have just returned from our third visit, and decided to go to Assos.
WOW! The village is so quaint and pretty, the waterfront so calm and relaxing, and seemed a million miles away from the bustle of Skala or Fiskardo.
I cant recomend this village enough. Go and have a drink or a bite to eat on the waterfront and sample its beauty.

Agia Efimia Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Emma M

The other times we have been to Agia Efimia, it was the height of the summer season,a nd the place was packed.
We have just got back from a week in Kefalonia, and had a much nicer visit to Agia Efimia as it was very quiet.
It is a beautiful little harbour, with lovely scenery. Dont forget to stop at the little coves and bays on the raod to Sami!!

Skala Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Emma M

Hi Julie. I cant say I have heard of those apartments!!!!

We love Skala. Great restaurnats, great bars, great sceney, great beach, great main street.

What more could you want???

Galera - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          10/10

Wow!!! This was even better than we remembered.
It is a really pretty restaurant, especially if you sit on the top part in the summer.
I would recomend the Tsatziki which is gorgeous, and the Moussaka, (vegetarian).
It was a nice touch to have a warm bread roll served, and the waiters are polite and friendly.
ooh, try the chocolate cake as well.......it is amazing!!!!

We will return next year!!!

Siroco Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          10/10

I agree about the previous comment about the waiter as he is really funny, and very friendly.

We ate here twice, and both meals were very good. The restauant was very busy, and it is easy to see why becasue the quality of the food was very good.
Try the mushrooms a la creme for a starter.

The breakfasts were also very good.

Well done Siroco!!!!!!

Socrates - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          5/10

Would say that this restaurant is ok, but nothing to write home about. My partner enjoyed it, but as a veggie, the choice was very limited.

The chocolate cake was nice though!

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          10/10

We have been here previously on our visits to Kefalonia, and went back on our first night. The meal was very good, and the waiters as friendly and courteous as ever.

The restauant was very busy, but is still one of the best restaurants in Skala.

Kosmar - (Tour Operators in Kefalonia)

Emma M

The only problem I have is the leaving day when you are taken to the airport so early. I dont think it is necessarily a Kosmar problem but there must surely be a better way of running things on transfer day.
We spent about an hour outside queuing, then about half an hour inside queuing to check in.
Then we spent about three quarters of an hour queuing for passport control.

It is taking the mick a bit!!!!

Mi Abeli Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          6/10

Just got back from Skala and only ate here once as we were not impressed. I ordered home made mushroom pies for my starter, (as a vegetarian...I assumed they would be safe) but they came full of meat. My partner did enjoy his starter of Kalamari. The main course that I wanted, they had apparently run out of, so had the spaghetti which was ok....you can't really go wrong with it can you? However my partner ordered the steak, and it just looked like everything had been thrown onto the plate. The presentation was rubbish and he had lots of grizzle.
Won't be going back!

Il Destino - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          9/10

This was the first time I had tried this Italian even though I have been to Skala on four previous occassions! Lovely food....the pizzas are gorgeous and my partner was very impressed with his pasta, and the waiting staff are very attentive and efficient. Probably a  little bit more expensive than the rest of the Skala restaurants, but they were closing for the end of season when we went so got 10% off the bill anyway!

Flamingo - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          7/10

Ate here really because we had done the rest of the restaurants that we wanted to. Had tzatziki which was lovely, if not a tad too big, followed by Veg mousakka which was very tasty. My partner had mushrooms for his starter which he enjoyed, then a seafood spaghetti, which he enjoyed although it didn't have mussels in as advertised on the menu!
It was only on leaving that we caught a glimpse of the garden and wish we had sat in there! Would recommend for a nice meal in Skala, but isn't in the top three restaurants in my opinion.

Galera - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M

We had three fab meals here. My partner was really impressed with the fish pie, and the veg mousakka as ever, was lovely. Spiros the waiter is still polite, attentive and friendly. The only shame is that the restaurant got quieter as the two weeks went on, down to people leaving the resort, butthe staff said that it had been a quiet year in general in Skala.
This is a fantastic restaurant with a nice eating area.

Old Village Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          7/10

Just had one meal here, but if we had had an extra night, we would have returned. The meal was nice, in a pleasant garden, but the stand out part ofthe meal for me was the chocolate souffle pudding that we shared. Yum! The waiters were friendly and said hello to us as they saw us walk past on other nights.

Siroco Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          9/10

Still one of the best restaurnats in Skala. Andreas the waiter is still as welcoming, efficient and funny as ever. The food is great, and the location of the restaurant superb for people watching. Every night we ate there the restaurant was full.
Prices have crept up in Skala for food and drink, nad one night we went over the '50 euros' mark. Andreas rewarded us with a free drink of our choice!

Mikelatos (Scandinavia) - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          4/10

I first ate here around five years ago, and didn't really get why this restaurant was so popular. Returned this summer and have to say that I still don't get it. We went on our first night as my partner who had never been to Kef before chose the restaurant. I had stuffed tomatoes and he had Kefalonian meat pie, (which I had been telling him about before our holiday). The pie put him off having it again, and to be honest the stuffed tomatoes weren't a patch on the ones at the Pines or Sirocco.
We went a second night as my partner fancied the special of kleftiko. I ordered cod fillet. My partner said that the Kleftiko was full of grizzle, and my cod fillet arrived covered in tomatoes and onion, almost as if to hide the size of the fillet, but absolutely full of bones.

The best part of both meals was my giant beans I had as a starter.

We probably wont return here. There are loads of better restaurants in Skala.

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

Emma M          8/10

We only ate here once but the food was as lovely as ever. The waiters are still attentive although it appears they have stopped giving the free water away.
I had Skordalia for my starter, (which I have been waiting five years for!)Still as lovely as ever. I then had stuffed veg.......lovely. My partner also enjoyed his meal.
Pines used to be the most expensive restaurant in Skala but although prices in the other restaurants have risen, Pines have generally stayed the same.

BBs Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Emma M          8/10

Went here most nights for pre meal drinks. The servicewasfab, the cocktails cheaper than most other places, and a great place to people watch. We also used the pool table a couple of times. Would be made better by putting a fan in the back!

Veto Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Emma M          5/10

We went here a couple of times at the start of our holiday during happy hour. Annoyed us that Veto's then took off the happy hour, and put another 50 cents on the price of the Mythos. We didn't return.

Sallys Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Emma M          8/10

First time I have been into this bar as it is quite well hidden, but I would agree with the previous comment. Friendly staff and bargain prices. The cocktails were fab, and we used this bar as a stop off on our way back to our apartment on  a night.

Poseidon Apartments - (Accommodation in Skala)

Emma M          9/10

This was my fifth visit to Skala and I hadn't found apartments that I was happy with for various reasons.....until arriving at the Poseidon. Maria and her son were there to welcome us on arrival, and our apartement was lovely. It was the first time in Greece that we had had a proper double bed. The apartment had character and all the basic things that you need, plus a small cooker. The balcony was big and had a sea view. We had maid service 6 days out of 7, and Maria went out of her way to make us feel welcome...she was lovely. We used the pool at Big Village which was a five minute walk away.
We didn't have any problem with hot water, (unusual for Greek apartments) and regardless of what time we had a shower, the water was hot.
Think it says a lot that our rep stayed here on her last night in Skala as she had to leave her apartment.

The only thing I would say to make this apartment better is to fit mozzy nets, but I understand that this would be a big expense for Maria.

Well done Maria and Thomas Cook.....we will return to these apartments.
