nice pool and garden, centrally situated

This was the first time in Kefalonia, after several years in Hisoranu, Turkey.  We went in October 2005 and the weather was good - few showers & electrical storms but lovely and warm during the day, cool at night.  The hotel is very good - staff very efficient & friendly.  We are hoping to go back in 2006.  We were impressed with the peacefullness - especially compared to Turkish resorts!  There was no loud music, even in the town, and it was lovely to look out on the countryside, with all the accompanying sounds.  The hotel survived a quite impressive earthquake as well!!

We spent two lovely weeks at le Cite. Its situation is perfect. You really feel as if you are part of a Greek town waking to the sound of the sheep and goat bells. There is a lot of local activity which adds to its charm. the hotel is spotless and the staff always willing to please, The local restaurants and taverna are less than 10 minutes walk away which means you can try a different one each night. We met other  residents who felt the same and would recommend this small family run hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy a specail holiday tasting Greek food and picking up on Greek culture. Don't forget to visit the museum around the corner.

Have no worries, La Cite's great. It's basic, clean and cheerful. The rooms are airy and simple, with pleasant balconies. There is airconditioning for a (quite steep) supplement, but the hotel seems to catch the breeze so you probably won't need it. The area around the hotel is peaceful and Greek - you may not see many other Brits until you venture into the very pleasant market square, about a 10 minute walk. The hotel is run by a local family who are always around and very helpful and friendly.

An absolutely great place for a holiday. Pricey this year, though, I think.
