Amalia Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

My girlfriend and I have just returned from 2 weeks in Skala and we had a great time. It's true, the beds are uncomfortable, esp. if you are tall, and you have to push the 2 small singles together to approximate it to a double. We had a ground floor room with windows that opened out onto a yard with some kind of oil boiler that would rumble occasionally and would sometimes make the room smell a little. However the little patio area out front was nice and had a nice view partially over the sea.
The room could get very hot and the asking price of 3Euros a day was ridiculous, and they ask you not to bring in others from outside vendors. So we were glad when it cooled a little in the second week.
The room was always kept very, very clean and the owners were pleasant.

Overall, clean but very basic, not somewhere you will want to spend a lot of time.

Old Village Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Gemma and I came here a few times to eat and often to drink, partly because we were learning to dive (PADI OW) with Panos from bubbles next door who was also a p/t barman. We had really nice food and really nice cocktails (on non diving nights), as well as meeting many of the great guys who worked there. We even went clubbing al-fresco (in between Skala and Poros) with them one Saturday after they all got off.
