Old Village Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Neil R

We have eaten at all the restaurants in Skala and this one is definitely our favourite. The chicken dishes are superb. Dont be put off by the fact you cant see a great deal from the road just go in and try it the food is excellent. Just read the comments book on the right as you go in.

Pines Too - (Bars in Skala)

Neil R  (02 October 2002)

Nice romantic location and excellent service. Thought the drinks were on the pricey side though.

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

Neil R

Food excellent and service second to none. Slightly higher prices than the other tavernas but generally a higher class establishment. Not a place for people seeking traditional Greek taverna.

Katelios Taverna - (Restaurants in Katelios)

Neil R

Not eaten here other than breakfast but enjoyed Shirley Valentine type location. Free sunbeds and Ilias the bar man is a top bloke, even if he does support Olympiakos. People very freindly.

Starlight Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Neil R

Spotlessly clean but beware everything else in the hotel you pay extra for. Breakfast included in your holiday package is two slices of bread. If you want two poached eggs its 5.50 euro extra! It costs you 21.00 euro to have your fridge switched on for a week and the same for a safety deposit box. Also if you have wine it is not the advertised 1.50 euro but 2.50 euro (big measures says rita ha!). Dont run a tab you get stung when you leave!!!

Old Village Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

First class, best food in Skala.

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Neil R

Definitely the best charcoal grill in Skala. Try the fillet grill meal for two. People liking traditional Greek service will love this place. Only problem get there early or yopu will have to queue for a table.

Greekstones - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Neil R

Antonis is a top bloke and he will do you a fair deal. Vehicles are good standard.

Anti Samos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Neil R

Beautiful looking beach I rate as possibly the second best on the island.

Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Neil R

Nice beach but there are some dodgy sights on the nude beach at the far right hand end. Best beach on the island is Petani beach which is over the ferry at Argostoli and then at the top eastern end of the peninsula from Lixouri. Place is stunning and quiet if you like that sort of thing.

Myrtos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Neil R

Pretty beach, not my favourite see comments for Skala (favourite Petani beach).

Dizis Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

Neil R

We stayed in June at the Dizis apartments. Very clean and a nice quiet location. Thoroughly enjoyed our time and Lucy the cleaner is a really fantastic person. Dont know how she manages to work that hard, 16 hrs a day would kill me!!

Once again first class and friendly service from Antonis and his team. Thoroughly recommended but book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Zola Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Neil R

Nice quiet and secluded. Recommend the fish taverna at nearby harbour. Safe swimming for kids.

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Neil R

Food excellent as ever. If you like the fillet meal for two well recommended. Prices still very competitive too.

Marina Bay Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Neil R

The apartments are at the bottom of the dirt track leading down to the northern end of Kaminia beach. Location is excellent if you like it quiet, but transport is essential. The snack bar is extremely expensive and both the food and service poor. A long walk if you want to go to Katelios or Skala for food without transport. Overall we enjoyed it because of the quietness. Be prepared when you arrive for an interesting ride in ford fiestas with 4 passengers and luggage to get down there!!

Ta Pitharia - (Restaurants in Skala)

Neil R

Went again in late September and still the restaurant was full by 8.00pm. Food still excellent and quick service unlike some of the restaurants.

Marina Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

Neil R

The accomodation was clean and very convenient for the centre of Skala. The rooms were cleaned 3 times a week and the linen and towels changed twice a week. For those who have been before the rooms are above the Gallera restaurant which is definitely one of the best and most reasonable places to eat.  However, some of the rooms are on the small size and if it is hot weather you will definitely need fans for ventilation. Another bonus was we didnt have to vacate until 12.00 whereas most other accomodation had to be vacated by 10.00.  Overall dont worry if you have booked here, it is much the same as any of the cheaper resort accomodation, but the location is spot on for access to Skala and the beach.

Hired Suzuki Wagon R this year. Deceptively roomy little car ideal for family of 4 with Air Con essential for the hotter days. First class service from Antonis and his team, without doubt the best Car Hire firm on the Island.
