Astra Bar - (Bars in Lourdas)

Cathy M

As there are only two bars in Lourdas and this is the cheapest, well worth a visit.

Lourdas Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

As everyone has said, Its a really steep - long road down to the beach at Loudas and when its 35c it can be a killer- hire a scooter or a car It's mostly pebbles with a little sand mixed in. Nice and wide and kept clean. Umbrella's and sunbeds have gone up this year, last year only £2.00 for two this year £5.50 due to the wonderful euro. Nice on a night sat at one of the tavernas.

Sunbird - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

We hired a Virago Motor Bike from Sunbirds and they were great - If you are touring this Island I would recommend that you get a Trials Bike, we found the hills steep and roads bendy and the Virago was heavy to handle on these,no good if you have weedy arms! no good for a scooter really, to many steep hills for them to cope.

Maria Anna Hotel - (Accommodation in Lourdas)

Cathy M

We stayed at the Antonia Apartments next door, which has just been built, but used the pool and Taverna at The Maria Anna Hotel and watched the World Cup on there TV. The food was lovely and the BBQ nights good fun. I can recommend the Chicken Souvalki, it was so tender and juicy the best I had on the Island. Lovely hotel, the people that run it are excellent and make you feel very welcome. Construction has finished now so you should enjoy yourself. Its a Olympic Holiday site on www.olympicholidays.co.uk

Doodles - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Cathy M  (04 July 2002)

We went in June, Food was average, service excellent, price a bit expensive. Nice Views over the bay at sunset, worth it just for that

Spiros Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Cathy M

Again worth a visit, food average, but you do need to go into the room to pay, but they like to let you enjoy your meal and did not rush us at all, even when it was so busy.

La Mer Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Cathy M

The Salads are brilliant, The Service Excellent and the prices very good also. There Tuna Salad was the best I tried all holiday.

Agia Efimia Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

This is a lovely village to stay in, very relaxing. It has lots of Tavernas and Restaurants, all excellent. Its nice just to watch the boats come in and out of the bay.

Sami Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

What a place to find - After touring all the Island we thought this was one of nicest places to relax, and our next visit to Kefalonia we will stay here for holiday. Only stayed over one night here, but went back a couple of times. It's a lovely curved bay with the Ferry for Ithaca coming in and out during the day, Its also the place the ferry goes to Italy. There is also the remains of a ancient theatre. Beach is small pebbles and sand and is nice a quite, there is also a excellent camping site here, the best on the Island with a lovely taverna attached which serve very good Greek Breakfasts. There is a promenade that you can walk around the bay during the evening. Sami is not a place of nightclubs etc, so wouldnt really appeal to the 20s/30s group. It's a place lovely for family's and Couple's. Althought it must be a good 25km from Argostoli and its over the Mountain! which is worth the trip for the view coming down the other side. Road to Sami excellent, wide with only a few bumps and bends. The main street is closed to traffic on a night as all the local's take there evening walk. Visit the Melissani Lake Cave, its only up the road.

Libra - (Tour Operators in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

I must agree with Irene Campbell's comment's, this is the second time with have been with Libra Holidays and they are excellent. There all mature Ladies and saying mature not in the (older type), but sensible girls, who were very clued up on the Island and information. At the first morning meeting our young lady did not oversell the trips, which was a god send, as you usually find that they bully you into going, even if you don't want to!She was a mind of information. Transfer from Aiport to accomodation was quick and efficient and again from accomodation back to airport, they even saw you through to the departure lounge. Accommodation was brilliant once again, no complaints at all. Value for money excellent and we will be using them again in September.

Captains Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Cathy M

An excellent place to stop for that 12.00pm cooling drink, it comes in a Glass stright from the freezer !! can taste it now. A great place to stop.

Trapezaki Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

A nice quite beach with the usual Taverna for lunch, but like all the beaches we visited in Kefalonia its a mix of Sand and Pebbles! unless all the pebbles had come in the week before us after the storms!! Worth a visit down the long bendy road.

June - (Best Time to Visit)

Cathy M

June, very hot in the 30c but great. Wind came in most evenings to cool you down, then it disappeared. We still needed to hire a fan for the nights. No rain at all, some cloud now and again. Got a brilliant tan.

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

Wonderful - BreathTaking! - Cool - And So So Blue. We took our camcord and even looking back on the film now it now its so tranquil and blue. Worth the visit.

Myrtos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

What a view down the road to the beach. Again the colours of Blue's Snorkeling was wonderful there. While we where there the water was very still, so no crashing waves. But very very pebbley, you need snorkeling rubber shoes to walk over the beach. The caves are also fantastic.

The Way to Go on Kefalonia - (Kefalonia web guides in Kefalonia)

Cathy M

This site is brilliant - used it before we booked so it helped us a lot. Thank You
