My wife and I have just returned from Fiona apartments and we can say we personally would not return. The pool and garden area were good and the view over the sea was lovely. However the room was dirty and not cleaned in the two weeks we were there although towel and sheets were changed three times. Please buy new beds! The restaurants were generally good in Lourdas the best being La Mer. The beach was a very long and steep walk from Lourdas and not worth the effort even of driving down! Get a car and go to the north of the island which is much prettier. We still enjoyed Kefalonia.

We have just returned from our two week stay at the Fiona Apartments. The location is excellent with tavernas, supermarkets etc in close proximity. The view from the apartment was fantastic looking over the sea to Zante. The apartment was very basic but the bedding and towels were changed every third day. The only thing that let it down for us was the bathroom, it really did need a bit of tlc! The staff and guests at the Fiona were so friendly and always had time to chat and pass the time of day with you. We would highly recommend getting a car for some or all of your stay as it is very hilly and quite remote. We will definitely be back!!!

Just a quickie, does anyone have the adress for the fiona appartments.
Have stayed in 2002 and we are returning in July 2004.

Jeanette H  (20 October 2003)

Fiona is studios and not a hotel, but is under as being a hotel on the justkefalonia website. FIONA IS SELF CATERING ACCOMODATION and is very popular with repeat guests, it consists of 2 blocks of studios with daytime snack bar and a evening bar and a large swimming pool.
There are great views from the rooms, short walking distance you have several restaurants close to fiona and mini markets. I would like to take this opportunity to THANK EVERYONE FOR YOUR LETTERS AND CARDS this will be my last summer working at Fiona, but I am sure that I will see some of you in and around lourdas next year. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOR 2004. PRIVATE MESSAGE FOR Rhona and Mark can you please contact me at my U.K. address, when I returned to the U.K. my purse was stolen and I have no way of contacting you.

WE HAVE JUST ARRIVED BACK IN THE UK AFTER OUR FIFTH TRIP TO THE RESORT OF LOURDAS IN AS MANY YEARS AND AT THE PRESENT TIME WE ARE NOW PLANING OUR TRIP THERE FOR NEXT YEAR . AN IDEAL LOCATION TO ENABLE YOU TO GO OUT AND EXPLORE THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND . AS ALWAYS THE FIONA APTS WERE EXCELLENT WITH SPECIAL MENTION TO JEANETTE WHO'S KNOWLEDGE AND ENTHUSIASM FOR THE RESORT AND ISLAND ARE SECOND TO NONE. CAR HIRE IS A MUST AS TO MISS OUT ON EXPLORING THIS ISLAND WOULD BE A CRIME , DO SIT BY THE POOL OR GO TO THE WONDERFUL BEACHES FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS , BUT THEN GET OUT IN THAT CAR AND EXPLORE !!!
SKALA , FISCARDO , ARGOSTOLI , AND ANY TUCKED AWAY COVES AND BEACHES , ARE A MUST. WE RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS YOURSELVES THAN GO ON AN EXPENSIVE EXCURSION OFFERED BY THE HOLIDAY REPS , THOUGH THE BEACH BAR-B-QUE BOAT TRIP IS VERY GOOD . THE FOOD AND RESTAURANTS IN LOURDAS ARE EXCELLENT WITH SPECIAL MENTION TO LA MER , SPIROS , TRICOLOR , AND THE GREEK ISLAND , BUT DO TRY AS MANY AS YOU CAN AS TASTES IN FOOD CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER.
LOURDAS IS A QUIET RESORT THERE IS NO LOUD DISCO'S AND NIGHTCLUBS JUST VERY PLEASANT BARS , RESTAURANTS AND PEOPLE BOTH BRITISH AND GREEK WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT ?
LOCAL MINI MARKETS ARE IN THE RESORT TO PROVIDE YOU WITH GIFTS , FOOD AND DRINK ALL ARE EXCELLENT.
THE DOWNSIDE TO THE RESORT AND KEFALONIA IS !!!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER YEAR BEFORE WE CAN COME BACK .

We have just returned from Kefalonia and have had a fantastic time we were made very welcome by all the guests and staff at Fiona special thanks to Jeanette who was a wealth of information about the whole island.
During our stay we visited most parts of the island and i would say that hiring a car for as long as you can afford would be recommended and although there are a number of very good Tavernas within easy reach if you want to eat along the lovely resort of Lourdas it is a 20 minute walk down and a 30-40 minute walk back up which is not easy after a large greek meal.
The apartments themselves are very clean and open and have great views of the mountains and the sea the pool area is very nice and guests often get together after returning from their evening meal in one of the many tavernas to have a drink and a chat which was very nice.
We do not like going back to places but Kefalonia is a place that is so lovely we may consider going back next year and would also be happy to return to Fiona.
We ate in nearly all the Tavernas and found them all friendly and welcoming and our favourite was Clematis which is right on the Seafront at lourdas an average 3 course meal was costing us around 50-70 Euros that is for 2 adults and 2 older children eating out works out around the same as eating out in the UK.
Our favourite beach was Skala and we particularly enjoyed our boat trip to Ifika but be wary of trips offered by the tour operators as you can often find them cheaper locally if you shop around.
The Olympic Rep was very helpful and had a good local knowlege she visited the complex most days and sorted out some issues over our flight very well.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from our 2 week stay in Kefalonia. We stayed at the Fiona apartments in Lourdas, and as this was our first holiday alone together, had little idea of what to expect! We thought the apartments where exellent, they had lovely views from the balcony, where really clean and comftable and even when the bed broke, it was fixed within a couple of hours of us reporting it!! The staff are really efficant, especially janette who works in the bar. She gave us lots of help and advice on where to go and what to see, and even orderd pizza direct to our room for us!!
The pool is really lovely, always plenty of sunbeds and great for lounging around and getting a tan!! The pool bar is also great, serving nice snacks during the day, abd open just late enough on a night! We met lots of lovely people and really enjoyed sitting chatting in the bar on an evening. We really had a great holiday and would recommend these apartments to anyone, especially couples like ourselves. We never had any problems with the noise, and couldn't hear the music bar at all.

Louise D  (07 August 2003)

The fiona is wonderful. After a two week stay, we'd definitely go back. As others have said the views are wonderful from the balconies and the rooms are a great size. Met some really nice people whilst we were there and like many others, took lots of advice from Janette (the lady who works in the bar) on where to go and what to see. Janette will even order pizza to be delivered to your apartment if you want her to! Would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday around nice surroundings and a warm atmosphere.

Gill A  (21 July 2003)

Thoroughly enjoyed our weeks break at the hotel. A special thank you to Jeanette who was extremely helpful throughout the stay. Would recommend Fiona Aparthotel for a nice relaxing break in Kefalonia.

Tina D  (13 July 2003)

I and three friends are going to hotel and apartments Fiona this thursday (17 july) and cannot wait! However a shame that their are no pictures on this web page as booked holiday via web phone number so no clue as to what apartments look like.

Shelly,jez,jack and ben   (10 July 2003)

We have stayed at the Fiona Apartments during late May and early June and can honestly say that noise (from the music bars) was never a problem. Can I recommend that visitors staying during the busy season take earplugs if they are light sleepers ,as viewing the comments recetly, visitors have mentioned noisy nights! Why let background music spoil your slumber?!!!!

Libby W  (05 July 2003)

a good base to explore the island of which car hire is definately needed. spacious and clean rooms although air-con would make it far more comfortable, instead of balcony doors open where noise from the bar was annoying in the early hours. excellent advice from lady behind the bar (who is english) and gentleman at cbr car hire. lovely views across to Zante from Fiona, and some very nice tavernas especially the Casa bleu.

Kate H  (23 May 2003)

My boyfriend and i were here for a week in mid may and it was absolutely brilliant. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Large balcony, with an amazing veiw across the sea to Zante. Lovely big pool that was never crowded, and you never had to fight for a sun lounger! Nice pool bar, with nice hot snacks and lunches, and lovely staff. Stayed open late aswell in the evenings so you could pop in there after your evening out for a drink. 3 mini markets within easy walking distance which stay open until atleast 1am, so never ran out of things (as they seem to sell almost everything!)
Everyone very helpful and well worth asking behind the bar for advice of places to go and see or eat.
Nice mix of guests, and just generally an excellent atmosphere.
I noticed that there were comments on here about a noise problem from the music bar up the road, but this never bothered us, possibly because we went just before the start of the peak season, so if you are after a quiet week, i would advise you to go around this time.
Very highly recommended and would go back in a heartbeat!

(would advise anyone wanting to explore the island to hire a car though, as there isnt really much of a bus service, and the beaches are quite far away by foot, but only about 5-10 minutes by car, and well worth the drive!)

Susan W  (19 April 2003)

ME AND MY HUSBAND STAYED AT FIONA IN 2000 AND 2001, WE FOUND THAT THE ROOMS WERE GOOD AND WE ENJOYED DRINKING IN THE BAR IN THE EVENINGS. WE ARE PLANNING ON RETURNING THIS SUMMER 2003, FIONA IS SITUATED AT THE TOP END OF LOURDAS AND IS NEAR 6 TAVERNAS AND 2 BARS AND 3 MINI MARKETS. LOURDAS IS APPROX 1.5 MILES LONG FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. WE WOULD RECOMMEND FIONA TO ANYONE, GOOD SIZE SWIMMING POOL AND NICE CLEAN ROOMS. LOURDAS IS A VILLAGE RESORT AND THE TOP END OF LOURDAS IS WHERE YOU CAN FIND THINGS TO DO

Judith D  (25 September 2002)

Couldn't have asked for more! It as our first holiday abroad and we didn't want to leave. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Kefalonia

Steve K  (24 September 2002)

Excellent little appartment, just down from a selection of tavernas and minimarkets. A couple of km from the main beach though, okay walking down, but walking up in the heat is not advisable. There is a closer beach to the hotel though. Pool excellent, snacks available throughout the day, although towards the end of the week, the bar started to close at 7, (we went end of August, not really out of season!) Apartments roomy, very hot though, and aircon would have been nice. Budget Car Rental also rents out fans. Kept clean, although the every other day emptying of the "toilet bin" seemed to not be as often as advertised. Excellent views all round. You don't even need to get up early to grab a sunbed!
