Myrtos Beach - (Beaches on Kefalonia)

Stuart M

Myrtos Bay is stunning, that is the easiest way to describe it.  We have visitied it on numerous occassions and no matter what time of day you arrive it is always worth the trip.

From the south of the Island it takes about 45 mins in a car along some nice winding coast roads and the final stretch of road down is even more winding but don't let that put you off!!!

Olive Grove Studios - (Accommodation in Svoronata)

Stuart M

Olive Grove is set down a road approx 10 mins away from the tavernas, this is a nice gentle walk and is completely flat.

We have been there twice.  The staff are great and always pleased to help. Yassu Costa and Kiki. The accomodation is basic yet clean and well maintained.  The pool are is a great asset especially on a hot day and you can't make the beach, all about 25-35 mins away but worth the walk.

There is a nice pool bar open all day and night until the last person goes to bed.  It is not a busy bar at night so it won't disturb you if you are in bed!  Sky tv is available so you can sit there all day with a beer watching England thrash the Aussies!!!

Sagitarius rent a car is probably the best place to get a car from. 60 Euros for 3 days.  Car is recommende but do not get it through First Choice, they wanted 130 Euros for the same thing!

Ammes Beach - (Beaches on Kefalonia)

Stuart M

Have been to Svoronata a couple of times and was really impressed with Avithos Beach last year but due to bad storms over the winter half of the beach has disappeared.  The beach bar is back and sun loungers were free in June probably 5 Euros a go now! Not overly impressed with the two tavernas there ie food and particulary the service in what was Ormerta was diabolical, I counted 12 tables that had not been cleared when we arrived and when we had our meal the plates were stcking up on the table after each course!

Ammes Beach, Minnies and Hellis beaches are ok but not too much to write home about.

Try Long Beach in Lassi if you want a bit more excitement as there are watersports and a big beach bar, only problem is that it gets crowed at about 4-5pm
