My boyfriend (24)and I (29)stayed at Marietta studios 16th - 23rd Sept 03. Studio cleaned everyday, linen changed once a week, really nice pool with plenty of sunloungers, food also good from poolside bar. 5 minutes walk into town, not much longer to the beach, no pavement though so gets a little hairy walking around the bend in the road. On the beach 2 sunloungers with parasol 7 euro's this seems to be a standard price as visited a couple of other nearby beaches. Not very impressed with the food in Skala though we visited a number of different restaurants searching for a Greek Meze and seafood, but found them all very samey and nearly every meal we had was served with Chips! never did get a Meze. We hired a jeep for 3 days (103 euro's) so visited Kateolis, Poro's, Sami, Argosti and Lourdas the beach at Lourdas is really nice. Visited Mellisani Underground Lake, well impressed for the 5 euro's each we paid to get in. Mytros beach is also worth a visit but bewarned it is very stoney, but great for snorkelling.
As for the barking from the wandering dogs, yes we heard it, only on the first night though, after that I think we'd drank far to many cocktails to notice !!
