The service is friendly and the food is excellent. The Sole fillet is fantastic. Many regulars return again and again.
The staff we friendly and very accommodating to meet all of our needs. Food was very delicious.
Food cooked fresh, Service always with a smile. The only down side is the protions are hugh and you have to leave some, which is such a waste. However we were always asked if we wanted to take a doggy bag. Definatly recommended. Although seating in the square is a little uncomfortable for the more short person, like myself.
After viewing comments before we went, we was expecting something fantastic. It was. The self catering apartments are brilliant and the hotel is great. We had a problem with the Air-conditioning, which we tried to cancel as it was not working and was disappointed with the response of the management. The staff a really friendly with the people who go back year after year and spend their money in the hotel bar otherwise they are friendly but indifferent. I would recommend this to people who are looking for a good base to view lots of the island.
Lixouri is a working town and is full of locals who are very friendly. Not at any time did we feel uneasy with the locals and enjoyed mixing with them. They absoutly love it if you attempt to converse with them in greek and will always put you right if you say something wrong. We did have one problem with a taxi driver. He really sold himself as someone who would, for a price, take us to see the best sunset on the island and then to the best restarant for our meal. The sunset was good, but by the time he took us the the restarant, at 9.45pm it was pitch black and he left us at the restarant in the middle of nowhere,(he did come back to get us later). The food was awful and we were bitten to pieces by the bugs. I traveled with my mother and two small childre. Although i never felt afraid or in danger on the island, we were in the middle on who knows where and at the mercy of strangers. The taxis drivers name is Themis (pronounced Demis) and he takes you to Kipouria. So please be aware of charming taxi drivers.
