Svoronata - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Katherine W

We have just got back from a week's holiday in Svoronata and it was exactly what we were looking for.  Very peaceful and relaxing.  Perfect if you want to get away from it all.  Halfway through the week, we commented how lovely it was not to have heard any sirens or seen a single police car!!  Don't think there are any speeding laws, etc in the rural Greek islands!

The weather was perfect - we only had one day that was a bit cloudy but we used that to explore.  It does get rather chilly at night though and I would recommend you take a light coat with you when you go out.

The only drawback is that places are quite spread out and therefore a fair amount of walking is needed - not so good if you are lazy like me!!  It is therefore best to either hire a car or, if you are just going a short distance, get a taxi.  The fares are quite reasonable.

What a great place!  We spent 4 of the 7 nights of our holiday here.  Costas is so helpful and really nice and friendly.  The service is excellent and you will not believe how far your money goes!  We will definitely come back to Kefalonia, hopefully next year, and will certainly return to Porto Helis.  We went in May and it is a great time to go before it gets too busy.

Must just say - the bacardi and cokes were the best I have ever had AND the biggest measures!!!

La Calma Restaurant - (Restaurants in Svoronata)

We stayed in Kefalonia in May and spent a couple of evenings here and thoroughly enjoyed it.  The food was really nice and the service friendly and efficient.

We had such a laugh with Thanos who works behind the bar!  He is a great barman and so funny!  If you are reading this Thanos, you will remember who we are - my boyfriend, Michael, was a friend of Wayne's (BIG WAYNE!!!).

Will definitely visit La Calma again next time we visit.

Thanks again!
