Michalis Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

The Michalis Studios are situated in a very good position, 2 minutes from the beach (Milos Beach Bar End) and 2 minutes from the main shopping street. It is located in a quiet residential street in the village and is very tranquil, for those people wanting a relaxing break, it is the place for you. Our room was on the ground floor with a patio facing the rear of the building and was very clean and airy. Our room was very large, but not all the rooms are as big as the one we stayed in. We only had one electrical socket in our room, so we bought an adapter plug from the supermarket to give us a little more power! The resort itself is excellent and has everything you could need, highlights for us were 'The Captains Bar', 'The Pines', 'The Flamingo' & 'The Old Village'. Solomos Supermarket seemed to be the best in my opinion. If anyone has any questions, please post here and I'll try and help as much as possible! I have some photo's to post as soon as I get round to it!

Captains Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Just Back July 2005

Absoutley, positively the best bar in Scala, nee kidding! Very good atmosphere and as lively as you want without being in your face! Nice cocktails if that's your thing, and the beer on draft ain't a bad drop neither!

You can even win a Jug on a Wednesday night lottery! (Not sure you'd want it though!)

If your going to Scala, get yourself in!

Day trip to Ithaca - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005!

Had an absoultely great day out! Well worth the money, cost us £24 each. Used Kavadaas Tours which is located next to the Anna Studios. The captain of the ship picked us up outside there office in his car, took us up to Poros and we were really suprised at how under crowded his boat was. Only 10 of us on including the captain and the young women who helps him out, the boat could have held 45 easy!!!!

Really enjoyed the day, Vathi (Capital of Ithaca) is really beautiful, not like any other capital I have been to before! Spent about 1.30hrs there before moving on to Kioni for lunch which was nice, Kioni is very photographic, were there for about 2hrs, we then called in at a beach for some swimming off the boat. Excellent day out. Would recommend to anyone.

Skala - (Exchange Rates in Kefalonia)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005

We used CBR to convert our travellers cheques to money. It cost us about 9 Euros for 450 Euros, which is a little pricey, the english guy was nice enough! The cash machine next to Mi Abila seemed to be broken once, watched to guys try to fix it when I was eating at the restaurant. They got it going, eventually!!! Not sure if you could just count on it though!!!

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005

We ate at the pines on three occassions and enjoyed every single one. I had the Kefalonian meat pie on my first visit and was blown away by how good it was. I tried the Kleftico on my second and really enjoed this also, on my last visit I sampled the Lamb ala Pines which to is georgeous, followed by the chocolate souffle for two which was also very good. A little more pricey than other restaurants in Scala, but I think it is to do with the quality of the food and constant free flowing water (shame it wasn't wine).

Also a bathroom with a self cleaning seat!

Flamingo - (Restaurants in Skala)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005

I can't understand some of the comments other reviewers have place here, the Flamingo was a very nice, good value restaurant, set in a lovely garden. Staff all very friendly and helpful, food was also to a very high standard. Would recommend this place one hundred percent, we went about 3 times and enjoyed it every single time.

Old Village Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005

We really enjoyed the visits we made to the Old Village / Zorba's, we had to wait on a table on a couple of occassions, so it was obviously popular. The pizzas are excellent, really, really the best thing they do. I had a Stiffardo, which was nice enough and a Mousaka, which to be honest was below par! Staff seem very nice, but I think the place may be ruled with an iron fist!!! Very Efficient!

Milos Beach Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Chris S

Just Back July 2005

We visited Milos on a number of occassions for an afternoon drink and sometimes something to eat. Very nice beach bar, and staff really nice. 2.50 Euros for a large Mythos. Food was good, had the Meze once and to be honest for 10 Euros, thought it was more like a Brewers Farye Style Combo!!!

Nice Place!

Galera - (Restaurants in Skala)

Just Back July 2005

The Gallera was a nice enough place, food was also very nice, don't really have a lot more to comment on this place!

Villa Angelos - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Chris S

Just returned from a 14 night stay at the Villa Angelos which I enjoyed very much. The accomodation is very 'Greek' and as you might expect fairly basic, although are room had a very large fridge (which was definatley needed, to combat the heat), 2 electric hobs, and an air conditioning unit. No real shower as such, it's a drain on the centre of the bathroom floor with a shower fitting coming from the taps. Air conditioning was 6 Euro per day and although quite expensive, it made our stay a great deal more comfortable as it was very hot. Fan hire was 12 Euro a week, and saftey deposit use was 10 Euros per week. You could have the use of the room until departure for an extra 15 Euro. We had a room on the upper floor which had a very impressive view of the sea and looked onto Xi beach/Lixouri area. Appartments are up a very steep hill, and it's another step hill again to Gradikai (and all the other) beaches, so if you don't like hills, avoid Lassi. The room only has 1 spare plug point, so if you want to use a fan at night you may have to unplug your fridge, etc.. to use it and a mosquito adapter, alternatively by a tripple adapter there which most supermarkets stock. Room was cleaned regularly, and I have no complaints. The owners spoke little english (more than my greek) but were really nice and seemed to want to make you welcome. Two supermarkets just down the hill and about a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach (Gradiaki) which has sunbeds, umbrellas, food/drink cafe. I will try and post some photos up of the apartments and Lassi/Kefalonia as we hired a car for a few days from CBR (125 Euro for a Punto) went all of the island on 30 Euro of fuel.

Gradakia Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Chris S

Nice little quiet cove, doesn't get much breeze and sand can get very very hot. Sand isn't as yellow as the other two beaches in Lassi. Water is nice and clear. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas if thats your thing. Place selling all the usual food and drink, and is okay on price. Like all the beaches in Lassi, you need to go down a steep hill to get top them, fine going down, quite a hike coming up!

Ionio Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Chris S

Really nice friendly place, we ate here twice for breakfast and once for our evening meal. Had the sea bass which was lovely for 10 euros. Definately worth a visit.

Monte Nero - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Chris S

Visited Monte Nero once during our holiday and to be honest, did not really enjoy the experience. It is trying to be a little to posh and it doesn't work very well.

Sto Psito - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Chris S

Excellent restaurant with the best views in Lassi, perfect place to watch the sunset. Prices were reasonable and we ate here several times. I had the rabbit which was excellent, very subtle flavours. Also tried the agrillas chicken, which was beautiful, Stufffed Lamb which was also excellent.

Visit is recommended.

Nefeli Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Chris S

Really nice and place, can get really busy on the live music nights. We ate here a few times and really enjoyed it. Grandma's meatballs are excellent!
