Unicorn Rent-A-Bike - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Pauline S

I am just back from a 2 wk hol in Lassi, Kephalonia. I was hoping to rent out a Gilera Runner but the only people who had those were the locals. i rented a 50cc People moped. It was reliable & i felt safe to tour around the island on it. I would advise wearing the full helmet with viser not only for safety, but it doubles as a shield against the bugs! Min. 3 day rental @ 12Euro/day. The couple who run the place are very easy going.

Assos - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Assos town is very beautiful & quiet. I walked up to the castle & was disappointed not to see one! There's v.little of it left, BUT, do walk up to view the town below. Fantastic views.

Myrtos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Pauline S

Spectacular drive down on mopeds. If your in a car, you'll have a tough job winding down the hill through the cars parked either side of you. The throngs of Umbrellas & tourists spoils the scenery - it's not a quiet secluded beach & the pebbles hurt like crazy! I like sandy beaches much better-less painful.

Archeological Museum (closed) - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

I was looking forward to it. Then i got inside. It's just one room basically. pricey! some artifacts were fascinating but all in all i wouldn't recommend it.

Drogarati Cave - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Pauline S

It's one of those places you see that takes your breath away. I was speechless. the lighting was fantastic. The cave is sooo big that it's occasionally used as a concert venue! It's quite cool down there too giving us a break from the dead heat above ground. This place was only found after the earthquake in '53. Fascinating. A must see!

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Pauline S

Beautiful place. Well worth the euros. Felt the boatmen deserved a tip as they were old men who were constantly hauling boat loads of tourists around the lake, small as it was. You can get a large photo of yourself on the boat for about 7euro if you wish. The acoustics in the tunnel down to the lake were so good that the local greeks tourists queing with us couldn't hold back from bursting into song. That was the only annoyance of the experience.

July - (Best Time to Visit)

Pauline S

Some like it HOT! & if u do, this is the time to go. I went from 25th July to 8th August. We did get a break though. One wk in, there was a thunderstorm and it rained for 1 day. The following day. The lightning shows were so spectacular that my partner & i stayed up till 4am sitting out on our balcony in the Hara apartments with our shades on! There was no rain that day just lightning. It was really beautiful. Previous to that our rep had told us it hadn't rained since early May.
