We have recently returned from 2 wonderful weeks in Kefalonia, staying at this hotel for the second time.  This year we were lucky enough to have a top floor room and the views are just wonderful to wake up to every morning.  The hotel have installed air conditioning since our last visit which was well worth paying for as the temperatures were very high for mid June.

 

Grigoris & Jenny, the owners, make everyone welcome and along with their son Peter and Lee who works for them they all make sure that all the guests are happy and nothing seems to be too much trouble. (Grigoris makes a wicked cheese/bacon omelet for breakfast at no extra charge!)

 

I would just like to add that we had almost been put off going to the Maria Anna last year after reading Linda Freestone's comments on this site (I'm glad we chose to ignore them).  Imagine our surprise when during the first week of our holiday the lady in question turned up to stay at the hotel so what was all that about!!!!!!!!  Ah well some people just enjoy complaining I suppose whereas we just make the most of our 2 weeks away from work!

 

Rhianon the Olympic Rep is an angel and we enjoyed lots of chats about the island with her and Martin from CBR - thank you both so much.

 

Wish we were back there now (especially as at the time of writing it is raining hard outside the window)!!

 

Be warned - don't change euro travellers cheques at the banks in Argostoli.  We changed 200 euros while we were in the town visiting thinking it wouldn't be expensive - joke - the bank charged us 15 euros commission!   Martin (bless him!) at the CBR office in Lourdas charged just 2 euros to change the same amount.  Let that be a lesson to us.

 

We went back to this hotel at the end of June for the 3rd year and once again had a wonderful holiday on this beautiful island.  Jenny, Gregori and Peter were as lovely as ever and the Mousaka we had (made by Grgori's fair hands!) was the best we have ever tasted.  This family can't do enough for all their guests which is why we love going back (something in all the years of foreign holidays that we have never done before).  Rhianon the Olympic Rep is the best rep we have every experienced and she makes all her guests feel special. 

 

Olympic's web-site is odd - one minute the hotel was not being shown for next year - the next minute it is available.  Have to say last year we booked in Nov for the following June as thought the price would be better the earlier we booked - checked the prices for the next few months and could actually have saved money if we had booked around April so be warned!

Have hired a car from CBR for the last 3 years and was sorry to see Martin was no longer in Lourdas this year.  Service not the same any more - missed Martin as he was always so helpful and always had time to for a friendly chat with the customers.  Fortunately we happened to drive to Lassi and spotted him - stopped for a chat and he is now working at Avis!! Pop and see him!

One of our favourite restuarants, excellent food, especially the Lamb La Mer and the staff are wonderful, especially Makis & Makis - particulary Makis who has such an "English" sense of humour!!

Natasha is always happy to chat to the customers and she makes the hottest latte on the island!
