Patritcia - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Sarah   (15 August 2005)

Patritcias was fantastic!  Like a lot of other people, once we tried it, we never went anywhere else.  Been home for just over a week now, but we are missing the free half litres of house wine we got every night, and the fantastic and friendly service.  The food was lovely and the bill was remarkably cheap.  This is the BEST place to eat in Lourdas - no question!  If you are going there, you must try it... you may be tempted by some of the more leafy and attractive looking places, but believe me, this is the best and most welcoming of the lot - we tried them all!

Seven Cafe Bar - (Bars in Lourdas)

We LOVED it here!  The 2 guys who ran it were really friendly, the bar had a really chilled, laid back atmosphere, with really cool music.  They have obviously really thought about what people want from a beach bar, and have the personalities to provide it all!  We spent several late nights putting the world to rights with Makis, who was a total star.  The cocktails were gorgeous and I can recommend the ice-cream soda when you need a refreshing half hour off the beach..... you might need 2 though - they go down so nicely...  These guys, along with the staff at Patritcia's downstairs, made our holiday!

Villa Mare - (Accommodation in Lourdas)

Sarah

We stayed at Villa Mare for a fortnight from 24/07/05 to 07/08/05.  We had a ground floor studio, which we thought was perfect for what we needed.  It was clean and tidy on arrival, we were able to sleep at night - we didn't think fans were particularly necessary, and we thought the cleaners were a little on the obssessive side, they tried to get in on several occasions whilst we were still in bed, and we couldn't predict what days or times they would turn up.   I suppose it depends on your expectations of an apartment, but this isn't a five star hotel and doesn't claim to be.  I think people complaining about the levels of cleanliness are being a little unfair.  As far as I am aware, the Greeks pretty much live outside their houses, and we spent most of our holiday outside too.  All you need from your accomodation is somewhere comfortable to sleep and shower..... or am I trying too hard to fit into local ways here????
