Assos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Michael M

A beautiful setting, with a small quiet beach and a calm bay. Good snorkelling - I even saw an octopus. As with many of Kefalonia's beaches, the shingle can make entering/exiting the sea quite tricky.

Anti Samos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Michael M

The setting is quite stunning, with a view out to Ithaka. The beach is very uncomfortable both to lie on and for walking. This was the most difficult beach for entering/exiting the water. The water wasn't as clear as elsewhere and the snorkelling was poor. Worth a visit, but not one for a full day.

Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Michael M

Not the most beautiful of beaches, as its one long stretch with few features. However, the sea is beautiful and warmer than most of the other beaches. The snorkelling was by far the best on the island, with large scholes just offshore. Just round the corner at the west end of the beach is a nudist area. This is the best area for snorkelling, just watch out for stray eels!

Andreas Apartments - (Accommodation in Skala)

Michael M

Our rep told us that our apartment (No. 2) was the best apartment in Scala. 2 large double rooms with balconies, bathroom and a full kitchen. We had heard that the apartment is a long way from town and the beach but its just a nice distance. Lets you stretch your legs and either burn off some of the excellent food or the Mythos beer. The place was spotless and Demis, the manager is a really nice, obliging guy. The pool at the hotel next door is excellent too.

Flamingo - (Restaurants in Skala)

Michael M

The best restaurant in Scala. The food is magnificent with the largest menu in town. We went back on the last night, to ensure a perfect evening and we were not dissappointed. The "Chicken a la Chef" is one of the best meals I've ever had. Try it. The staff are extremely friendly and also very good at their job. Its worth waitng for a table in the garden, as its trully lovely. I can't give this place enough praise.

Mi Abeli Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Michael M

We only went here for a bite at lunch time, but I was dissapointed by the very poor "Club Sandwich": it was more like one a 3 year old might make. Stick to main meals.

Siroco Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Michael M

The Chicken Souvlaki is lovely, but the pizza leaves a little to be desired. Nice place and service though. The phone lines were down when we tried to pay the bill, so they let us come back another day to pay. Very trusting people.

The Pines - (Restaurants in Skala)

Michael M

The most expensive restaurant in Scala. Very nice but not as Greek as the others. A bit too formal and impersonal, the least friendly place we ate in. OK for a change but not as good as Flamingo. Nice cutlery though.
