Sunset Studios - (Accommodation in Lourdas)

John B

Just returned from these apartments last week and cannot fault them.
When you walk in and open the door onto the balcony the view just takes your breath away. We had a car for the week so we didn't have to hike up and down to the beach.
Jerry's supermarket directly across the road has everything you could possibly need { that's beer and wine to fill fill the fridge. !! }

Crystal Palace Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

John B  (26 July 2003)

We tried this place on our first night because it was only 10 minutes walk from our studios { sunset studios }
The food was good, my wife and I both had the squid to start, my wife had the grilled prawns and I had the Kefalonian Meat Pie. The only downer being the normal inflated restaurant price of the local wine.
{ Robola } All in all a nice little restaurant, which really deserves more custom.

Lourdas Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

John B

A great beach spoiled only by those most selfish of people "smokers".
Around every sunbed and parasol there are invariably dozens of cigarette butts in the sand. The only people I saw putting their butts into the many rubbish cans on the beach were Greeks.
The highlight on the beach for us was visiting bar Se7en { upstairs on the corner as you turn onto the beach } A litre of cold Mythos in the 40Deg temps. we encountered was just what the doctor ordered.
The young girl from Burnley who runs it with her greek boyfriend was delightful.

La Mer Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Average food and as previously stated poor wine. I'm sure Sylvia realises that Robola is a grape variety, and not a wine as such. Like every other grape variety the variation in standards of wine from the excellent to the very inferior is inevitable.

Dear Mr Agios,
Unlike some of the others who appear to frequent this site and who have ulterior motives for their very poor and un-called for attacks on individuals and restaurants, I am indeed a tourist who tried to give an honest and frank summation of my visits to local restaurants. I take it that you either work or own LA MER and have a vested interest in your attacks on others { especially Lorraines }

I can assure you that having eaten all over the world for many years that my visit to LA MER was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. { And whether it was octopus or squid that I had for my starter it still had black hairs stuck to the coating !! }

Seven Cafe Bar - (Bars in Lourdas)

John B

Excellent location right on the beach { upstairs on the corner at the bottom of the hill } Great for either a lunchtime toastie and litre of Mythos, or for a cocktail in the evening whilst watching the sun setting. { watch out for the happy hours !! }
The young greek lad who owns it and his girlfriend from Burnley are excellent hosts and I'm already looking forward to visiting them next year.

If Axias or Agios { got any more pseudonyms ? }are really greek tourists why, oh why, would they be so hell bent on making so many disparaging remarks about every other restaurant in lourdas apart from LA MER. I find it incredible that some people can be so petty and vindictive about other good restaurants in order to try and get tourists into theirs. You should learn to take criticism in the way it was intended. { After all, your restaurant is hardly Gordon Ramsay's !! }

You sure you had the correct place Ian ? { Upstairs on the corner of the beach } because when we were there they only served snacks and you could get ice cold Mythos on Draught for E2.70 a LITRE !
