Pythos Apartments
(Apartments in Svoronata)

10/10 Frances Bennett (August 20, 2008)
We've stayed at Pythos for the last six years and love its peace and friendliness. We've stayed in both the old and new blocks and have no complaints (especially now that they've installed the air conditioning). Mamma, George and Maria are delightful, and welcome us back each year as if we were family. Mammas bbq is not to be missed...especially her cheese souffle. The pool is always so welcoming, especially after a tiring day on the beach!! Can't wait to return and we are so envious of those lucky people who are there now!

We went to the Pythos apartments in August 2006, with our 2 children. Pythos Apartments were absolutely superb. Friendly owners who were always available, for whom nothing was to much trouble and a mother who was the most excellent cook. There were never more than 15 people around the pool, some children (about 8 I think) but not enough to take over the pool area(!) and everywhere was very clean. As Pythos is only a small complex, the weekly barbeque was a lovely social evening and a chance to let your hair down and meet the other guests. Fresh bread is delivered every morning by van at about 10 am (which toots to tell you he's there). Worth getting up for!! We didn't hire a car but spent our 2 weeksaround the pool or on one of the 2 beaches within walking distance (15 & 20 mins respectively) Al Helis was a superb beach! Svoronata is a friendly, unspoilt and welcoming place and we shall be definitely be returning in the next few years!!

Thirteen days and counting!!  It's been over a year since i've been to Kefalonia, and now we're into the final few days count-down, I can't think of anything else, work is unending and more dull than ever, Uk weather leaves me cold :)

Well...

I've said it before and i'll say it again - if you want real Greece, not 'what Brits in a foreign country' deem as a fantastic holiday, this is the one for you!People complain because it's isolated (pure heaven if you ask me), and God forbid, you have to walk occasionally!  Bring it on...  Great people, stunningly beautiful scenery, delicious food (and drink), great music and the best day-trips ever to be conceived in the history of day-trips.  All totally soul-enhancing!  Trust me, you'll never see your 9-5 in the same light again.  Long live Pythos :)

I think it's a very lovely and peaceful place surrounded by olive trees, and flowers. You must visit it.

My husband and I stayed at Pythos Apartments for 2 weeks from end August 2004. We had no expectations, except that we wanted to stay somewhere quiet but with good access to the rest of the island and Pythos was ideal. The family that run the resort are very friendly and Louis who ran the bar speaks fluent English. The apartments are clean (maid comes every other day)but yes, they are basic. A car is really a must for part of your stay but Ammes beach is only a 15 minute walk away. There are quite a few tavernas to choose from, but I would recommend ? Paradise near Ammes Beach and one in Svoronata village opposite the petrol station.

Not just liked but loved it. Out of the way but there's a short cut to the village and shops along a rough track. Very friendly people at Pythos. Clean and peaceful. Loved Ammes beach. Hope to go back in the future.

Visited in September, 2003. A BIT! off the beaten track but find the short cut to the village, walk to shops is then only 15 minutes. Take a torch for night time - you'll need it. Lovely beach down the bottom of the road. The aircraft going in and out of the airport do not bother you at Pythos though on the beach you are aware of them but they are very infrequent so not bother. Love the whole island. Will be going back. Islanders so friendly.

These apartment are excellent, But don’t expect too much you will get complete peace and quiet. The apartments are basic but comfortable, with basic cooking facilities (don’t plan big meals) the pool is very good and the prices at the pool bar are no different possible cheaper than the beach bars. The owners are very friendly and will help you in any way they can. No mater how early you get up they will always be up before you cleaning the pool or round the hotel grounds. Don’t miss the Bar-B-Q its great plenty to eat, possible more expensive than you would pay for meal at the restaurants in the main town. But its great fun. The road to the apartments from the main road is dark so if you are walking take a torch.

Unless you are planning to stay around the pool you will need a car. You can then visit the great beaches Lassi beach is great but gets very buy. We found a beach about 2 miles up the road and down a dirt track. beach beds, quiet, (even at week ends), beach bar and there’s a restaurant on the beach as well which serves good food. The sand is very soft and the water warm.

It’s a great place to stay

staff were good but if you want something done dont expect it,i had a blocked drain and had to fix it myself then when i asked for more towels to soak up the flood i had to shout and after much shouting got them about 3 hours later.Good base camp for surrounding areas argostoli etc.car hire is a must or you are limited to the local tavernas etc,we had a car for a week and were lost without it.not recomended for children as there is nothing to occupy them.pool is below average as the deep end tapers of very fast, not safe.local beer is 3 euro vodka and coke about 4.beer is only 80 cent from large suppermarket.food is overpriced and portions very small.dont listen to the tour reps about his food cause it isnt true(kosmar)

Apatments are small but very clean, Kefalonia is not the cheapest place on the earth, We stayed in May the weather was freezing the first day and then red hot for the rest of the week Pythos is a very welcoming place the staff are very friendly and keep the place spotless, All the other guest were friendly which created an even better holiday I would recommend the place to anyone who is looking for some peace and quiet.

Stayed here May 2004 the first day was cold but from then on really nice & warm, the apartments are basic but very clean, All the guest there at the time were really friendly, which helped a lot with my boy Oliver. All the staff were really pleasent and helpfu and kept the place spotless. The food in Kefalonia was not up to much and the prices of Food and Drink are about the same as the UK May as well eat at the Pythos just as nice as anywhere else. If anyone is looking for a place to relax in a bit of peace then i would recommend Pythos, But i would recommend hiring a car.

A car is essential unless you are looking for a holiday that involves a mile walk to the nearest shop in blistering heat. Do not expect to be able to cook a meal, the self catering facilities are very limited. (There are no kettles and you will need to take a bread knife if you want to self cater). Almost all the families staying had to have 2 studio apartments so check on the accommodation you're getting. Pool bar expensive and limited. Fortunately the week we stayed there were several families with children of the same age, which made our daughters holiday.

Four of us went to Pythos Apartments hoping to gain some peace and quiet away from the norm and found exactly that at Pythos. The whole 8 days were spent around the pool, on the beach at the local towns and were more delightful than we could imagine. Im not sure where the gentleman @Grant' in the last write up actually went in the evening but we had a maximum of 15 minutes walk and went to a different taverna every night to eat. The apartments are spotless as is the pool. The drinks are reasonable too. Bar staff (Maria & mother) were so friendly and welcoming. We loved every minute we were there and are all now planning to go back but for a fortnights holiday this time. You definitely need a torch if you leave the grounds at night as there is absolutely NO lighting on the roads but that only adds to the fun of the holiday. We hired a car for three days and got the fourth day free. The rep sorts it out for you. If anyone wants any more information please feel free to email me on paulinethomas21@onetel.net.uk - we couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Roll on the next holiday.

Grant MacDonald (June 16, 2003)
Didn't know what to expect when we arrived so had no real expectations which was probably a good thing. The accommodation was fine , but location wise you are in the middle of nowhere so a car is probably a necessity and a torch is essential if you are walking back from 1 of only 2 bars (which are nothing to write home about) along the track at night which is not lit. The pool was lovely but the poolside bar was very quiet, which was a shame as the prices were not bad and as the bars in Svoronata are not up to much then they could capatilise on this. Staff friendly, although owner quite rude.
