Envita Apartments

Accommodation in Svoronata

Loved our stay there. We were a group of 4 girls and we felt safe. It is far enough from the town to be quiet and close enough not to miss out on any of the action. The rooms were of a good size and compared to other hotels the pool was fab. The staff were amazing and very understanding when it came to asking them random question about the area. We are planning to go back there next year as we loved it so much and felt so welcome!

We stayed at the Evita studios in Svoronata last year, with Golden Sun, but they are not offering them in their brochure for 2004. Does anyone know who might be offering this accommodation?

Apartments are only two minutes from airport, its like being dropped off in the middle of nowhere. There is building work next door, a dog is chained up & barks during the night, the apartments & pool are exposed right next to the road. The shower & curtain had mould on & the light fitting was hanging from the ceiling. You need transport either taxi into Lassi (10Euro) each way or car hire. Don't hire your car from rep (Etam) there are a couple of hire firms in Svoronata. Ames beach is lovely 20 mins walk, & White Rocks in Lassi, the island is nice, the international restauant is good value & the bakery in the same village. I did make the most of it but would not go back to those apartments or car hire firm.

We have just come back from a 2 week stay at the Evita apartments. Our intial reaction to the accommodation was small but clean. We had a studio on the ground floor with a patio - we did ask for a balcony but we found the patio to be just as nice. Once we got our stuff unpacked and we settled in we loved it ! We spent a lot of the time travelling round the island and going to the many different beaches, but when we did stay at the apartments we enjoyed it. We had the pool mainly to oursleves on several occasions, and we found it very clean and lovely. We did experience a few people complaining about Evita but we got the holiday for a bargain so we knew what to expect. It was all very clean and you had just what you'd have in a hotel room - plus a fridge! The studio was basic but unless you intend to stay couped up in there for your entire holiday then you won't have a problem ! We spent every night on out patio drinking and playing cards, and we met some great people there. The owner was very helpful and friendly. A holiday is what you make it and we had a brilliant time at the Evita studio. Only probelm I'd say we had was with the shower - it was either very hot or very cold. Everything else was great ! If anyone has been recently please let me know if the dog has had her puppies yet!!

Just come back from a two week Holiday in August/September and had an excellent time. But..........every holiday has its moaners!! we had two moaners who complained about everything. One family expected a microwave and oven - but please!! this is Greece!! You get what you pay for - if you want the best - go and stay at the Hilton. They reckoned their apartment was smelly with mould under the sink - but the same family never seemed to leave their apartment - so it can't have been that bad!!
The other moaner likened the Evita to Camp X-ray!! to incoming punters before they even entered their apartments - which we think was very unfair.
The owner (Makis) and his family were very pleasant and helpful - Costas -his son introduced himself on the first day - shook our hands and said if you have any problems -just let us know. This welcome was extended to everybody we saw that came to the Evita, but sadly there will always be someone who would rather moan about a place, rather than actually going and talking to the people who can sort it.
The bar hours were at best! greek hours - you know the kind - maybe we're open maybe we're not! But during our first week we had the pool to ourselves most of the time and Costas would pop down and ask if we wanted anything from the bar. During our second week when there were more people around the pool- Costas would open the Bar at around 11 and shut at 5 and then reopen two hours or so later until the early hours of the morning. Costas was always happy to make toasties - whatever the time and we were more than willing to test his cocktail shots - which came at frequent intervals and were always on the house! Yammas!
The pool was kept spotlessly clean - thanks to Makis - who was up at the crack of the dawn everyday. Makis showed his willingness to help guests at anytime - even opening the mini market late at night for water and ciggies. If you needed a taxi - Makis would sort it for it you.
Tavernas and restaurants are within walking distance. Expect at least a 20 minute walk to the nearest, but with the surrounding scenery it did'nt seem to take that long as we kept stopping to take in the views. Don't forget your torch if you intend to walk back under the stars!!
The surrounding area is quite beautiful, and there are sea views to be had in one direction and rugged, hilly, mountainous scenery in others.
The family pet dogs were well cared for and very friendly and the two moggies Saddam and Schnapps provided regular entertainment with their playful antics of hide and seek. All in all, the Evita provided everthing we wished for - a quiet, relaxing peaceful holiday. Can't wait till we go back!!

Just got back from two weeks at the Evita studios. Do not stay there the place is worse than basic. It cannot be classed as self catering as the equipment in our apartment was more or less non existant. One big stewpot a small pan and one butter knife between four and three toilet rolls for two weeks. The sheets get changed on a twice weekly basis but the miserable maid does not clean at all except when new punters arrive. If you look closely the place is filthy. The kitchen sink had mould it. The kithen cupboard and so called bathroom stank of a kind of old water smell. Most of the pluming was rusty. Take a chance with the shower most evenings you stand there for ages hoping you might get to rinse the soap off your body. Everyone was complaining. During our time there two families arrived and refused to stay there. We were dropped off there by the rep and before we realised what a dump it was the rep was gone. The owners mini market next door is a rip off. The owners son Costas runs the pool bar which is supposed to be open all day according to the sign by it. In reality he is a lazy little oyk does not open until about 8.30pm or when new punters arrive and fleece them while they wait for there room to be made ready. Finally if you still want to go there the pool is nice and the area to but that's all. Give the two dogs in the gardens that are chained up all the time some water and a good pat, both very friendly. Stay somewhere else or have a horrible week or two at a dump.

Definatley a location suited to those who like to do their own thing, car hire esential. Pleasant pool and bar area, although bar opening times erratic. Very quite, airport noise minimul, facilities in rooms basic although we only ate breakfast in room.

Would recommend for couples and small groups who like to have days out from a base, and a couple of days by the pool.

My husband and I have just returned from a two week holiday in the "Evita apartments and felt that we just had to write and express our views. The man who owns the apartments & shop is very friendly and extremely helpful. The prices in the shop are the same as elsewhere on the island. The pool bar is run by his son who ensures the evenings are pleasant and enjoyable. We will definitely be recommending the "Evita" apartments to all our friends. Roll on next year so we can return!!!.

Located 5 mins from the airport which has its pro's and con's. Don't pay expensive transfer fees with the tour operators, get a taxi. Don't pay for delivery of hire cars just walk back down the road (5 mins each way)to the airport and pick the car up. As only 4 or 5 planes land each day being by the airport is not a problem (you can't really hear them anyway). Accomodation very basic and the appartments are very small. Main room is just about OK but the bedroom has two beds almost touching each other. Access to the wardrobe is difficult. Balcony is right next to the pool so good if you have kids. According to the Golden Sun brochure the appartments are located in POROS or SVORONATA. In reality they are on the opposite side of the island from Poros just outside Svoranata near the airport! Despite the culture shock on arrival the area is nice but is on the main approach to the airport for coaches. Go there soon before the shops and appartments along the road are completed though.

I think these apartments are actually called Evita Studios. We stayed for two weeks here and had a great time as the surrounding area is very peacefeul and quite beautiful. Don't expect too much from these rooms as they're pretty basic. All twin beds (no doubles), basic cooking facilities (2 ring electric hob and only one saucepan - no kettle), a shower/ toilet and that's about it. But, as it's only for two weeks, it doesn't really matter and you can just make the most of it. The pool is small and is right next to a road but there're the beautiful, sandy beaches of Ammes, Al Helis and Avithos nearby (20 - 30 minutes walk) so it's not really needed. Do not buy food from the local mini market as it's very overpriced (more expensive than London in some cases) and the guy who runs it is quite moody. He's fleecing the tourists and he knows it. Walk/ drive into Svoronata instead and buy your food at one of the bigger/ cheaper supermarkets down there. Don't stay here if you don't like walking or peace and quiet because it's a little secluded. This suited us fine though. Just be adventurous and you'll have a great time.
