Just returned after 2 weeks at the Antonia Apartments very nice place to stay, basic, but very clean Bar staff Sue, Zoe Karen & Andy soon make you feel welcome Great fun to be had in these appartments as the complex is small you all soon feel like old friends with all the guests. The pool is fantastic and bar snacks are value for money.
Stayed at the Antonia in June this year, what a great time we had. Initally we weren't happy at the thought as we had originally booked the Fiona, but when we got there the room was one of the best we had stayed in in greece. The whole two weeks were great Andy, Sue and Zoe were very accomodating, we had many a gud nite chillin with Andy. Promised we would be back next year but not appearing in brochures at the mo would like to be able to contact Andy but have no way of doing so! He's bound to remember the 'geordie chef'!!! Hopefully he's looking after 'gabbie' the kitten we all befriended!!
Just got back from the antonia had 2 weeks there.
Can you tell me if its better to take travelers cheques, and if i need to take out a mortgage
going to Antonias for 14 nights in july is there anyway of contacting the apartment owner Makis???????
Help please. where are these studios , turn off the main road near the petrol station down the hill then where do I go (self drive and Lourdas is well spread out)
Just returned from 2 weeks at Antonia Apartments, i was switched there by olympic from Fiona, i was disappointed before i got there as i was looking forward to stopping at Fiona having been to Lourdas twice before i liked the look of the Fiona. Having now been to Antonia i was very pleased with the apartments and am searching for another holiday there later this year! Views are stunning from balcony, rooms are light and airy. Excellent pool with facilities, Sue, Andy and Zoe always on hand to help
Myself and my husband stayed at the Antonia Apartments at the end of August 2007 and we had a fantastic holiday.
My daughter and I loved the island it was beautiful, the scenary brilliant. The Onassis cruise superb, I had already driven the route so the coach was not a problem. Would recommend car hire to see the island.. The studios were dirty, the bathroom had mildew growing on every crevice and up the walls, we got quite good at killing the ants that joined us for a shower. The bedroom was mouse infested, droppings in the cupboards and under the fridge mice could be seen running around the room- for those that know the smell of mice that was there too - Makis claimed that the mice were because we left the doors open to the terrace. It was impossible to sit outside on the ground floor terrace as we had a wasps nest. Night time noise disturbed us until 5 am from the pool bar. Makis had a party trick, he would load and fire his shot gun in the bar area, he being the worse for drink, he also tried to teach a drunken guest to shoot. Such a pity that the accommodation spoilt our holiday the island most certainly didn't
My family and I stayed in the Antonia Apartments end of July beginning of August for two weeks. We had a fantasic holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lourdas. Being our first time visiting the island we hired a car for three days and visited majority of the sights recommended to us, we were impressed by the stunning views. We intended on having a quiet, relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we got! The locals were so friendly and the lady in the shop nextdoor to the apartments would go out of her way to help you. We enjoyed meals at Spiros, Casa de blue, La Mer and Greek Island and would recommmend any of them. The views from the apartments are excellent. They are clean and adequate for a self catering apartment. The pool is as Makis describes it 'the best in kefalonia!'. Makis is friendly and makes you feel welcome. (good at his job) if you come across a problem he will do his best to resolve it for you. We also had the BBQ during our first week and all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a nice way to meet others staying in the apartments. The greek dancing gave us the opportunity to meet Makis's family which was nice and to take part in dancing which they enjoy and take so much pride in. Its a shame fellow english cannot lose there inhibitions once in a while and take part! We returned the following week and took part again! I would recommend this holiday and will definatly return as soon as possible! Ashlie and Jordan (aged 20 and 16)
Returned back from Kef. in Lourdas on 26 Aug, stayed at Antonia Apt. Agree with everything said,
Just like to add to all the other positive comments. Makis is a good guy - easy going, relaxed...but his taste in music is appalling - take some cdís with you. The rooms are spacious, clean, hot plate, kettle, fridge...everything you need. Location is superb - view amazing, shop next door selling all you need, bars/restaurants across the road, car/bike hire 2 mins away. Myself, I hired a bike for 10 Euros a day and saw most of the south during a week long stay - Skala/Poros half an hour from Lourdas- Sami about 45 mins - Argostoli about half an hour. Sami and Argostoli definitely worth a visit. If you want to hit the beaches then transport of some description is needed if you donít fancy the half-hour walk in the sun. If youíre not into hiring a car or bike then there is a bus that runs down to Lourdas beach all day. Itís easy. There is a great beach 5 mins up the coast - great snorkelling - never found out its name but far quieter than Lourdas - which is nevertheless a great beach. So there you have it - book at Antonia if you want a quiet, chilled holiday with no idiots. The bbq is basic food wise but is a great chance to have a drink with all the other residents. Iím a bit of loner but had a great night drinking robola with some friendly folks.
Oh and Spiros is the best local restaurant. Home made Greek dishes like mousaka, kephalonian meat pie and stifado for very affordable prices...
We could not fault our two week stay at these apartments, Makis the
owner is great guy will always try to make you holiday special, and yes
he is a mad as a hatter and loves to party, The locals are all very
friendly and welcoming. The island itself is a very beautiful (real
Greece) no night clubs, 18-30 or drunken louts. It is worth hiring a
car for a few days to appreciate its beauty.
We had a fabulas holiday. The appartments are plain and basic but clean. Makis (the owner) is definatley one sandwich sort of a pick nick!!!! but he is a very hospitable and a geniuine man, he will make you feel very welcome and loves a party. The resort is small and quiet but there is enough choice for a two week break, just. To really see Kefelonia you need to hire a car for a few days, but beware the roads in places are difficult to say the least!
Absolutely brilliant holiday. The views from our clean and spacious studio were incredible. The village albeit small has a few good taverners and local shops. Makis the owner is as mad as a march hare but what a great host. The Island it's self may be the most beautiful place on the planet,
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Antonia Studios in Lourdas. Previous ratings sum it up really well. The studios are rather simple but clean, the owner outrageously friendly and the village as well as surrounding beaches fabulous. If you are looking for a very laid back greek island which is completely missing the buz which attracts Club 18-30, you don't need to look any further!
Excellent view of the sea and Zante in the distance.
Very good, clean basic room with fridge, camping stove type cooker (perfect for Greek coffee!).
Was informed that hot water only available until 1800 due to solar electricity but it was actually available at all times.
No reception or safety deposit boxes but to be honest you won't need either as nothing will go wrong and no thug-tourists in the resorts (thankfully).
The owner, Makis, is usually at the bar next to the pool from lunchtime onwards and there is always either a cleaner or gardener on site who can answer any questions re plumbing, electricity etc.
As I said, fantastic views of the sea. Can see Zante very clearly on some days. Also, one day we heard the sound of bells and was rewarded with the sight of a goatherd moving his flock down the road behind the apartments!
It is a great base for either Trapezaki and Lourdas beaches (if you don't mind a few kilometres walk).
As you walk out of the studios, there is a supermarket just to the left (all of several seconds away!) and a nice restaurant a few meters further to the left.
All in all a good basic studio apartment with friendly, helpful staff in a splendid location.
Oh, the view is pretty good too!
Just spent a week at Antonias apartments.
Spent a week here around the middle of July 2005. Staff were great, Mickey made us feel very welcome and comfortable.
Just spent two weeks at the antonia apartments. The view from the balcony was lovely. The apartments are quite clean. Just beware if the owner puts his sprinkler on you wont get a shower if you are lucky enough to it will be boiling hot water. The owner is friendly but only because he wants you to spend money in his over priced pool bar. If you dont buy drinks from there hes not too friendly. The maid is his sister and she walks in your room smoking a cigarette and has very bad body odour. We had a lovey holiday in kefalonia as a whole the island is lovely. We expected greece to be basic but not to shower with a pan or bottle of mineral water. If you complain the owner dosnt do any thing. He also stores lots of fans in hes room which is on the ground floor we realised this on the last day as we saw them in there. The rooms are very hot and stuffy at night and you cant sleep. When we asked him about the fans on the last day he just said you cant have them cost too much electric. These apartments could be made a lot better if the owner sorts out the plumbing and isnt so tight on the electric. Also just to add when somone goes a toilet ther whole building vibrates as there is a very bad airlock in the system theres also a problem with is underground boiler system which also sounds like another earthquakes hittling the island.
Just been for a week at what is now the 'Antonista'. Very clean, nice staff, lovely pool, amazing views but abit noisy (not that we minded but others did!)
Just got back from this place and absolutely loved it
The village is real quiet - but there is definately a weeks worth of tavernas.
As for the apartments - they are great. Girasmus (or Mikey) is a great guy and his bar staff (Illias and Anna) are equally friendly.
They all went out of their way to make sure that the holiday was one to remember.
The bar downstairs stays open pretty late so their can be noise from that sometimes, but if you close the doors you wont hear a thing.
The pool is great and a laugh to be around. The beach is a while away - but they will probably give you a lift as they are all so nice
Make sure to try Casa de Bleu - the owner is very greek!
went and used this swimming pool several times towards the end of the season, very nice pool area, this is available to non residents they also have a very nice snack bar and the STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND MADE EVERYONE FEEL WELCOME, which is what you need, this is a place I would recommend to anyone
