Petani is very beautiful. You have to have your own transport to reach it, as its a bit "out on a limb". There is a long winding road that leads down to it, and the view from the top of the road is breathtaking, a fantastic photo oppurtunity. The water is so clear, and the sand looks so white. Once on the beach though, a word of warning it does bank quite sharply, so for very young children and those who are not strong swimmers caution should be taken. When we were there we took some bread and went snorkling and fed the fish, it was great!! There is also a cafe/bar, which serves snacks and drinks. we have been to Kefalonia twice now and are going back in August 2003, and although we will be staying in the south of the island in Skala, we will definately make the long trip to the North to Petani because it is so lovely. If you have your own transport, make the effort to visit Petani.
