Mi Abeli Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

Kay G

Very quiet despite being above a taverna, and on the main street. Sheets and towels changed regularly - worth investing in one of the locally made bathmats, which will double as a holiday souvenir!
Shower above average for Greek self-catering accommodation.

Ate at the restaurant below a couple of times - food and service very good.(The local speciality, cold garlic mash, good for keeping the mosquitoes away).

Fiat Seicento - (Hire Cars in Kefalonia)

Kay G

Hired a Seicento for 3 days (plus one day free!)and found it quite adequate for the roads on the island - speeds above 40mph difficult to attain on these! It was fine for just 2 people - cramped for more than 2 I would imagine.

C.B.R.(Avis) - (Car Rental in Kefalonia)

Kay G

Hired a Seicento for 3 days, with an extra day free. Friendly, efficient service, and the best value we could find in Skala (we visited most hire places).

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Kay G

Excellent trip - I was less enthusiastic about booking than my partner, after hearing about the karaoke, but this turned out to be the best trip we went on (and we went on most!) All the crew friendly and cheerful, especially the Captain.
Because the weather had been stormy the day before we were unable to have the barbecue on the beach, but anyone who wanted to was ferried to the beach in the motor launch to wallow in the mud.

PS - we saw the dolphins too!

Pines Too - (Bars in Skala)

Kay G  (05 October 2003)

Having eaten at The Pines the night before, we were disappointed by Pines Too - the food was fine but, we thought, a bit overpriced. With a bottle of wine recommended by the waiter/manager we paid around a third more than at The Pines for one less course, and didn't enjoy it nearly as much.
10 out of 10 for location, right on the seafront, but only 5 out of 10 for quality and value I'm afraid.

Island Tour by coach - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Kay G

A good introduction to the island's places of interest - unfortunately it rained all day, so we didn't perhaps appreciate everything on offer as much as we should have.

Day trip to Zante - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Kay G

Despite Karen, the Panem guide, who was very friendly and informative, we felt this excursion was a bit like a shopping trip, with the winery visit, the craft village, and the time in Xante town. It was interesting to see Xante, as it was an island we had thought of staying on, but much preferred Kefalonia. Xante town not recommended - unfriendly atmosphere, and we had the worst meal of our holiday there!
