I am staying in Lassi in July this year, but am reading some pretty worrying reviews on the net. Can anyone whos stayed in Lassi give me an honest opinion of what it is really like as its starting to sound as if im heading for a greek version of Brighton! Many thanks
Hi, just got back from 2 weeks in Lassi. it is by no means tacky or too touristy but there are certainly nicer parts of kefalonia which we disovered by hireing a car. The beaches are beautiful, but there seems to be too many people for the amount of beach space in the height of the season, particually as 90% of the beach is taken up by sunbeads for hire. Lassi is ideal if you want good weather, lazy days and very quiet nights, and the people are very friendly.
We were impressed with these studios which were basic but clean. the location was excellent, close to the main road and beaches and malibu pool but also very very quiet. They clean and change sheets etc every 3 days and the owners come every day to tend to their private garden at the end. If you dont like cats then i wouldnt reccomend you stay here, when we were there there were 4 adult and about 7 kittens... very cute! The studios get very hot so try and hire a fan, and watch out for the showers... there small and have no curtain so you flood the bathroom! for more info feel free to mail firstname.lastname@example.org
We ate at the olive press about 6 nights out of 14. the food and service was excellent, and very good value. We never paid any more tha about £20 for two of us with beer, wine and desserts. The live music on a fri, sat and sun was very good... traditional greek music. i'd definatley reccommend it
Just got back from staying in Lassi first two weeks in july. Weather was VERY VERY hot and not a single cloud did we see in 14 days. However, there was a nice breeze some evenings and deapite the hot sun we found the sea to be cold which was nice to cool off in. The evenings were about 28 degrees which makes sleeping pretty uncomfortable, especially when you cant have windows open due to mosquitos!
We found argo to be an excellent company, despite being fairly new. The rep was excellent and was there if needed wihtout being too instrusive. The transfer arrangements were excellent. The flights through Argo were with Excel Air and we were very impressed with them also.... plenty of legroom, edible food which is a bonus on flights and there was no delays at all. The accommodation was fairly and accuratley described in the brochure and was by no means over priced. would definatley reccommend.
Sami is a lovely place. we first went as as part of a 'sami by night' trip and loved it so much that we hired a car and went back three times. i would definaltey stay in this beautiful but small harbour town if we went back to kefalonia. As the setting for captain corellis mandolin it dosent appear to have suffered at the hands of hollywood and is definatley the most traditional and authentic place we have visited on kefalonia. Wouldnt reccommend the resturant 'daulphina' (i think its called that) , we asked for the bill 3 times and waited 35 minutes before giving up and leaving without paying!
The view looking down to the beach is amazing and is worth going just to look at. As far as beaches go it was very stoney and painful on the feet, but the water was lovely and clear and warm. and seeing as we went at peak season it wasnt overly busy. There were alot of families with children here so it wasnt really a peacefull beach and it seemed that alot of the locals come here which is nice.
