At the end of September and into October the season is winding down, especially in Lourdas. Lots of the restaurants are empty, which can mean you get very attentive service. I would have though going any later than this and you run the risk of a lot of place having closed down for the winter; especially in Lourdas, I would expect Lassi and Argostoli to still be going all year round.
We stayed between the 28th Sept and the 5th October 2003.
One afternoon of rain and storms lasted around 4 hours then cleared.
Then for the rest of the week it just got hotter and hotter.
By the 5th October (the day we left) it had reached 34 degrees.
Lovely time to visit the flowers are beautiful.
Two weeks from September 20th. First week all sun and some haze. Some cloud and a thunderstorm for two afternoons in the second week and then back to heat. Lovely. Bloody cold when we got back here though!
We visited in the last week of September and weather was great. Hot during the day and cooler in the evenings. Take a jumper for the late evenings as it can be quite cool.
VISITED KEFALONIA THE FIRST TWO WEEKS IN SEPTEMBER, THE FIRST WEEK THE WEATHER WAS LOVELY AND HOT THE SECOND WEEK IT RAINED AND THE THUNDERSTOMS WERE AMAZING. IT WAS STILL HOT THE SECOND WEEK AND WE DID MANAGE SOME SUNBATHING IN BETWEEN THE SHOWERS I DONT THINK IT IS THE NOMAL WEATHER HOWEVER AS MOST THE LOCALS WERE SURPRISED BY IT
We went to Kefalonia early September 2002. It rained for practically a week but I don't think thats the norm. The rest of the time the weather was very hot! The thunderstorms are amazing and kept us entertained anyway :)
Ideal time to visit. Saw an amazing storm one night that we were there. Magical if not a little scarey! Hot during the day with gentle breeze, evenings were cooler but not cold.
We have visited Katelios for the last few years - just got hooked !!! Didnt like it at first !!! Too small 15 or 16 times !! We love the country, we love the people We stay on the front - will not disclose our rooms !!! In September we took 2 of our grandchildren, the Greeks love children. We had a fantastic time, different but wonderful. Nothing I need to know - just wanted to share !!! It is a wonderful island - just magic - cant put my finger on its CHARM !!!
Just got back from a week in Lourdas - only one days rain, although there were a few storms in the mornings before we got up.
We were in Ag Ef for the first two weeks of Sept and probably had the equivalent of 3/4 days of rain. Fortunately when it did rain, it cleared up fairly quickly, and the thunderstorms were worth seeing. When the weather was nice, it was ideal temperatures for sitting out in, and it never got unbearable.
My partner and I visited kefalonia in the third week of september 2002. The weather was perfect at least 28 every day with not a cloud in sight. a constant breeze made lying on the beach bearable and gave me a great tan. However i was told by my rep that we had been lucky as it had rained heavely for the first two weeks in September.
For the first two weeks of September (2002) it was very hot. However there were a couple of storms and cloudy days. These were short and the days were not completely written off.The sun was fresher after the storms which made the time spent on the beach more bearable. A local told me that they had not experienced weather like this since 1928.
First week in sept.02.About 28c but heavy rain each day for a couple of hours.
We WENT TO SCALA IN 3RD WEEK SEPTEMBER 1999-WEATHER SUPERB- TOO HOT FOR SLEEVES/LONG TROUSERS IN EVENINGS (BUT IT HAD RAINED HEAVILY IN THE WEEK BEFORE WE WENT-UNSEASONABLE I THINK)
