Sorry, but forgot to add to my previous comment that car or motorbike hire is definitely needed if you want to see the island which is just to pretty to miss!!

We stayed in Svoronata for two weeks and really enjoyed it. It is not your typical package holiday resort- more of a sprawling Greek village. How many holiday resorts have chickens, sheep and cockrels waking you up in the mornings?
There are three local beaches, Avithos, Al Helis and Ammes. We were staying at the Marketos Apartments and Avithos and Al Helis were about 25 minutes walk away (although Avithos takes longer on the way back because it is up hill). Ammes takes about 40 to 45 minutes. It is very near the airport and the planes fly in over your head(very few a day though). They are all lovely but beware of the 80 steps down to Al Helis. It is very hard to choose a favourite but I did really like Avithos.
There isn't much nightlife in Svoronata, it is extremely peaceful and relaxing. There are a few bars and restaurants. Not at lot of restaurants but you could walk further to the ones on Avithos and Ammes beach. We ate in Argostoli a couple of times. Dum Spiros Spero is opposite the Marketos Apartments and is nice with friendly staff. All restaurants in the area were nice but I would particularly recommend Fois and the Garden. A nice bar is the Esmeralda pool bar at the Marketos apartments.
Not fantastic for shopping, I suggest Poros as presents are cheap.
Svoronata is a charming village surrounded with olive trees, lime trees, lemon trees, pompegranite trees and vineyards.
You would be mad not to like it!

Svoronata was very quiet and peacful, but without a car you feel stranded. Without meeting up with super people I think I may have gone stir crazy, also shame about the stray cats and dogs. But I now need a change from package holidays...!!!!!

I will be going to Svoronata in September. I would really like to visit OSKARS restaurant. Can anyone tell me roughly how far away it is from Svoronata and would it be cheap enough to get a taxi there? Cheers!

Stayed at Katerina studios room 15 on top floor very clean and airey but basic. No kettle or toaster just 2 hob job so if you like breakfast take your own gear.
Room can get hot but you can hire a fan from George in bar for 2 euros a day.
Village quite Tavernas good value liked La Calma and Fois the latter has an English owner so is goog for local knowledge.
Will be back!

Very quiet location, really need to hire transport (scooter 30 euros for 3 days) as last bus to argostoli is 11am and last bus back from Lassi is 2pm! Beautiful beaches. Not much nightlife at all, but a great place just to relax. Recommend Ammes beach. local shops are quite expensive so your probably best to go into Argostoli for shopping if your SC. Very near to the airport but there are few flights each day with very little noise.

Hi, we stayed at the Marketos appartments with voula and her family, they were all so welcoming and made you feel special with the BBQ nights all free! The rooms are very clean and the maids keep on top of them which is a bonus.
The locals are as warming with their hospitality. Try the local foods including the olives and greek salads and fresh porgy which is the local fish oh and the fresh fruit which just falls of the trees at your feet.
And lastly if you like beaches and a bit of culture try the local beach where they will serve a 1/2 btl of local kefalonia wine for you to enjoy the scenery-breathtaking!!

WE WENT TO SVORONATA IN JULY 2003 AND ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. THE OLIVE GROVE APPARTMENTS WE SO PEACEFUL AND THE POOL WAS BIG AND VERY CLEAN AS WERE THE APARTMENTS AND THE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. WE WENT ON TWO BOAT TRIPS AROUND ITHAKA AND TO SCORPIO ISLAND AND LEFKAS WHICH WERE EXCELLENT FUN AND YOU GET TO SEE SO MUCH OF ALL THE ISLANDS.

WE CANT WAIT TO COME BACK

We stayed at the Katerina apartments above Crazy Georges bar it was quiet and clean. It was an excellent base to stay. we hired a car from Greekstones next door to our apartments and toured the whole Island.
This is the second time we have visited in 9 months and we were not bored. Our philosophy is provided the apartments are clean as you do not spend much time there thats all that matters.

We love it so much in Svoronata that we are going back again for the third time to the same apartments - Olive Grove. They are quite basic but extremely peaceful. Also went to Ithaca last time - idylic

Unless you want total seclusion don't go here. Very few shops and restuarants and only one bus to the next town per day. Taxis are expensive so the only real option is to hire a car or go on the organised excurions. Ammes beach is small and as close to the airport as you can get. We recomend walking to Avithos beach. This is mich better even though it did take 45 mins to get there.

we love this place so much we will come back time and time again
