Rod M

Stayed at the Barbara Studio Apartments last September, nice, but would like to try somewhere else. The Olive Grove sound nice, but cannot find it listed with any travel agent. Would like to stay there this September. Could someone e-mail me direct with details if possible, and also let me know where it is located, ie near Ammes beach or Al Helis.
Thank you in advance.

Couldn't believe that all the comments about the Olive Grove Apartments were true. Believe me, they are! We have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday. Spotlessly clean; quiet (despite being so close to the airport!)and everyone is so friendly. We will definitely be returning and next time we will know where all the best beaches are! Sorry can't divulge that information, they may get too busy!

About your query about air conditioning etc at Olive Grove we went last year in July, were going back this July. Yes the airconditioning does work, you pay weekly, everything inthe apartment is very clean, i would say its well above basic, the apartments are lovely. We were their for 2 weeks, but only had the air conditioning for one we all kept waking up with stuffy noses. Its very hot in the day, but they have a great pool for cooling off.

Might see you there.

Have booked to go to Olive Grove Studios in July. Have heart condition and am hoping air conditioning is working? Is the accommodation so basic, for example is the bed linen ok, the crockery clean & useable? Desperate to find out what this place is like?

had 2 weeks at the olive Grove in October 2003, just booked again for 2 weeks in May. Apartments were clean but basic ( BUT WHO CARES WHEN YOUR ON YOUR HOLS!)weather fantastic, staff and other guests were really friendly. The beach by the air port is worth a visit just for the expereince of the planes landing over your heads! Didn't bother with a car in October - just used the bus to get into Agostoli and Lassi - one aday - anytime between 10.20 and 10.40 leaving the village and dead on 2pm on the way back. Crazy Georges bar gives you a good night out, only had one bad meal - at The Garden restuarant - everywhere else was fantastic.
Can't wait to get back there just to chill out - take plenty of books to read or borrow from Costa. get the Frappa andthe bacon butties on Costa!!

We went to the Olive Grove apartments in July 2003.

What can I say, but that it was the best holiday I've ever had. Before this holiday we'd been to Crete 3 times and before that to Florida twice. The Olive Grove is just perfect. It's just like it says peaceful, clean and perfect for just chillin. My two kids loved it I thought they might think it was too quiet but they loved it. It's so good were going back in July this year. The apartments are very clean and roomy. The bar at night is just right friendly, but not too in your face. Svoronta is a small place, but it has shops where you can get everything you need. There's a good choice of resturants within walking distance, but wait till the sun goes down before you walk to them, it's absoultley roating in the day.

Just get some bottles of Robola (Local Wine) sit on your terrace and relax, its fantastic. If you stick to the wine and don't mix you don't get a hangover no matter how many bottles you have.

We've been to Kefalonia twice and both times we've stayed at Olive Grove. These are beautiful apartments, two blocks, surrounded by well kept gardens of exotic flowers and palms, the three pools are always kept spotlessly clean. Kosta, the owner, does an excellent job of keeping the whole place up and running, and also makes a brill bacon buttie and a mean Frappe (Iced Coffee)....Kosta, my friend, if you have clicked on this, thank you for everything, and we hope to return some day in the near future...

We have returned today (12.10.03) from Olive Grove. Its a fantastic base for exploring the island. The staff are very friendly as are all the residents of this island. The apartments are basic, be aware there are only 2 rings, no grill / toaster, kettle etc but they are clean and spacious. You do need a car on this island, the bus service is very poor. We hired a car via the net from Greekstones car rental which is just around the corner from the apartments. Miros and his staff are very helpful and the cost was extreamly good value. We had the car delivered 1 hour after our arival, it cost 27 euros to fill it up and that saw us through the whole 7 days, beleive me we did use it! We went all round the whole island in it and used it every day so it was economical. The trips organised by tour operators can cost from 20 - 50 euros per PERSON so the car was usefull. For anyone nervous of driving abroad dont be! The keafalonians are very patient and I found it easy once I got used to everything being on the opposite side. Go to Zorbas in Lassi ( apporox 6 miles) Wonderful food and great greek dancing! There are some tavernas around Svoronata (Gemini is a good one) but generally it is a very quite sleepy little village. Not a place I would recomend for young families or teenagers as they may get bored. I would definately return to the island and these apartments.

I have just returned from my weeks holiday where we stayed in the Olive Grove....From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome from the hotel manager Kostas. Our apartment was spacious, clean and had the basic cooking facilities. The pool & surrounding areas were excellent! very well maintained. The brochure says airport noise, but it is minimal and bothers no one.

I highly recommend the Olive Grove to any one wanting a relaxing holiday on the beautiful island of Kefalonia.

Stayed at the Olive Grove Apartments last week in August 2003. Very nice. clean rooms, quiet at night, great pool, good bar. The BBQ on Thursday night wasn't worth the 15 Euros each, but the location is fine and I would go there again. As we were upstairs we didn't bother with the air con, just left both doors open all night and enjoyed the breeze! Good food at Dum Spiros down the road.

My husband and I stayed at the Olive Grove in 1999 and 2002 and we enjoyed every minute of our holiday there. Although it is near the airport it is surprisingly quiet and the beach is only a lovely walk away down a country lane about 20 mins. We like walking at home so we welcolmed the chance to stretch our legs. Also there are a number of tavernas within walking distance from the grove and a lovely one on the beach. They do an excellent mousarka.

We would like to go to Kefalonia in Aug. but we have left it very late and the only accommodation available is the Olive Grove studios. It seems a lovely place from all the comments I have read but the brochure said that it was 1.8 km to the nearest beach, which sounds quite far. Is it? Also, are there any nice views from the accommodation? We would be staying in the studios rather than the apartments.

Have just returned from 2 weeks relaxing break at the Olive Grove Studios. The people and staff that we met there were fantastic and really friendly.

The apartments are large and spacious with either balconies or terrace areas. The appartments are clean, and linen and towels are changed frequently. Basic kitchen stuff is provided.

There are 3 different pools, of differing depths so something there for everyone (children and adults). There is ample space for sunbathing, and plenty of sunbeds, parasols are provided but there are areas which get the shade too.

The location, is ideal for a nice relaxing holiday, there are several tavernas in walking distance, all of which serve good food. Although Svoranata is close to the airport, the noise is minimal, as no planes fly directly overhead.

There are several beaches near to the village, most of which seemed to be down quite steep slopes, so may not be ideal for small children. All beaches in the area are accessible by car. Is woth hiring a car for a few day to see some of the rest of the island, we particularly liked Poros and Mirtos beach.

Hello

We have just booked 2 weeks in May/04 to go to Olive Grove Studios & Apartments in Svoronata/Kefalonia

Has anyone been there before ?

Whats the accomodation like ?

How far is it from the beach (as we are taking two children) ?

Are there any Tavernas in walking distance, and if so what were they like ?

I have tried looking on the net to see if I could find a map to give us some idea of the town and the surrounding area, but there dosn't look like there is one.

It says it is quite even though it's 10 mins from the airport, is it?

Rob M

We have just returned from two weeks staying at the Olive Grove Studios and Apartments. The accomodation is excellent value for money even better cos we got a deal on the holiday! OK the location is very quiet but that is what Svoronata is like. The rooms were very spacious and always kept clean by the staff. The facilities were good, there was a great pool and good pool bar and lots of space to catch the sun. Absolutely fantastic beach nearby called Avithos Beach.
Several restaurants aswell with the pick of the bunch being Dum Spiro's Spero but also Entetiko was good. Crazy Georges bar was good fun aswell. If you intend hiring a car it makes a good base to explore Argostoli, Lassi, Skala and the southern coast. A very enjoyable holiday indeed.

We visited Kefalonia last summer and we would like to return in 2003. Although we stayed in the Katerina Apartments and it was fab, we would like to try the Olive Grove Apartments this year butI can't find them in any brochures. Can anyone help with what brochure I should look in or can you give me the owners e mail address? I would also consider a villa. Is this a possibility? How do I go about it?

We stayed at Olive Grove Apartments, Svoronata, in September/October last year, and absolutely loved the place. We're hoping to go back to Olive Grove again next year. The owner, Kosta, gave us a business card complete with e-mail address, which has now been lost, and we would like to get in touch. Does anyone have his e-mail details?
