Aristomenis Studios

Accommodation in Lourdas

Shirley S

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Aristomenis. We had a wonderful studio with 2 balconies and a double bed! The views from our room were stunning and we found the room very clean  and spacious with  the bathroom so much better than our previous experience of greek apartments! The pool area is great and we felt that the Aristomenis is very well cared for by Steve and Eleni. The tavernas close by are plentiful and you could eat somewhere different every night and we had good greek food  in all we ate at. If you want to go to the beach it is walkable downhill and there is a bus back, however the 5 p.m. bus back did not turn up! I think there are taxis. I would not have managed it back up the hill as it is hard work, so if you want easy access to the beach dont book in the resort up the  hill where the apartments are. Another down side is the lack of any entertainment, like greek dancing or bars with SKY TV, very limited, however if you do not want this type of holiday you will really enjoy it as it is a lovely island.

Jon M

Booked the Aristomenis Studios online only the week before flying out through latedeal.com & then discovered this site with all of the reviews of the resort before flying away.

Having just got back from Kefalonia (a word of warning: my garage is bigger than the airport so be prepared for bit of a wait flying back home!), I can honestly say that like any holiday you get what you give.

I agree with some of the other reviews that the pool bar prices are slightly more expensive (especially the cocktails) than some of the other bars up the road but the bar food itself is very nice and after having an appalling so-called English breakfast at the Blue Bar I began to appreciate how nice Steve & Eleni's New York pancakes with maple syrup really are (they come from New York so that's hardly surprising!), despite the extra expense.

As for the apartments/studio's themselves, they were clean and quiet with a fantastic view over looking the bay and sea with a dramatic backdrop of Mt Enos behind us, usually covered in mist early morning. With temperatures hitting early 40C the air-con was a life saver so although you could quibble with the cost it was worth every cent.

The Pool and Pool area was also clean and very popular, especially the whirlpool, although I do advise getting up early to grab a decent spot as past 10am most are gone.

The hosts, Steve & Eleni were very friendly and the Friday night BBQ was worth every 12euro as the food was excellent (as much as you can eat with BBQ steaks & homemade mousakka or taziki) with the added bonus of a big group of American-Greeks turning up & showing us Brits what proper Greek dancing is all about.

Overall if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday without Greek 'musak' blaring out 24/7, along with friendly hosts and clean apartments close to the amenities but far away to avoid the noisy road traffic then I'd seriously consider the Aristomenis. I'm probably going back early next year for a week's quick break which speaks for itself  I suppose.

Ann

Stayed here for two weeks.

Apartment was a good size but unfortunately had an ants nest behind the fridge.

Pool was beautiful but nobody made use of it - many people thought that the drinks and food were very expensive compared to other places within the resort.  Small bottle of water was €1 when bars and supermarkets charged only 50 cents.  Beer and cocktails were also very expensive so many people chose to eat and drink elsewhere which was a shame.

Hosts very quiet and whilst we were there did not mix with the few guests that would sit around the pool.

Air conditioning and safe costs €55 per week which is also very expensive as most other hotels charge this for 2 weeks.

We have just booked for the 3rd time in 5 years at the aristimentis apartments and will be there this june 06 and know we will realy enjoy it. Very nice apartments, good hosts and a beutiful ilsand ,what could be better.

Jodie P

Excellent, this was one of the most relaxing places we have ever stayed in, with fantastic views of the sea from our room.  Rooms were new and well equipped, with clean newly tiled bathrooms, bathmats and shower curtains.  Only complaint was that cleaning and bins are only done twice a week, and you only get 1 roll of loo roll per week, non negotiable I'm afraid!

The pool was lovely, but a bit deep, although the pool bar is the most expensive i have even seen, with a very anglified menu.  Drinks were extortionate also, but half price on monday nights, when you can get a beer for 3 eoro (!!). But there is a supermarket over the road if you dont mind eating in your room/balcony. Stelios and eleni were friendly, helpful and chatty, and a great locationn in terms of shops, restaurants etc.  This place is well maintained and they take a lot of pride in the gargens etc.  You will have  a great, relaxing  holiday here, we did.

Lisa H

We spent 2 weeks here with our 9 month old daughter and could not of asked for more!

Nothing is too much trouble, and everyone is so friendly!
The location is fantastic with views of the sea from your room, the only downside is its a 2km walk to the beach - downhill to get there and uphill on the way back, this is made even worse if you are pushing a buggy!!
The rooms were spotless and the pool was lovely.

Thank you for a great holiday!!!

Yvonne B

sagapo malaka, yes we got home safely, after a wonderful week with Steve and Eleni, made some wonderful friends, hope to see you again,Yvonne

Mick P

Myself and my Family spent 2 fantastic weeks here and we're booking to stay here again next year, which is too long away.... But it will be worth it as it is the most relaxed holiday I have had and came home charged up and ready to go.

We are proud to have met Steve, Eleni and Sherrie and call them friends as they made us feel like that and nothing was too much trouble for them, which is a PLUS in my book for booking a holiday somewhere.

However, If you are looking for somewhere to have a mad one then this place is not for you as there are no real clubs or bars around so really it's more of a quiet resort for people wanting to relax in a peaceful surrounding and enjoy a few drinks.

I notice someone left quite a negative review about this place and from what I've heard of the family in question, they made no effort to meet anyone half way and expected to much too soon. As for the room they mentions, it was a lovely room even with the boiler going off now and then, but that's a small price to pay for constant HOT water...

So, all in all, it was a great holiday and anyone who books here will enjoy themselves.

Steve, Eleni and Sherrie. we'll catch you guy's next year.....

love you all, Mick, Samantha, Matthew, Sarah and last but not least Jack.....xx

We had a wonderful holiday at the Aristomenis studios in May 2005 for two weeks .Eleni & Steve were perfect hosts  , any problems we had which were few ,were sorted out in the same day.

The appartment was very clean, and had every thing we needed. The views from our balcony were beautiful of both the sea and mountains. The pool and bar area were spotlessly clean, and the Friday night barbacue was not to be missed.

We would highley reccomend these appartments for a super holiday, and we are looking forward to seeing you both next year.

Just returned from our 3rd year staying at Aristomenis Studios. Yet again we had a wonderful holiday, what an amazing place!!!. Eleni, Steve and Sherry are the most friendly host you could wish for. Do not be put off by any previous bad comments about these apartments or the people, their warmth and hopsitality is second to none. We find it quite unbelieveable that anyone can find a fault with the place. Here's to our next holiday in the Taylor residence.

John G

whoops didn't rate it properly

quietness got maked down thanks to the turkey and the chickens on a plot a few hundred yards away  but to be fair they didn't keep me awake i just got bored of listening to them gobble gobble gobble

John G

sorry to say graham that i have been there twice now and i enjoyed my stay on both occasions you have evidently had a bad experience, i'm sorry that your parents and daughter did not have a good time, i took my three girls 10-15 years and my partners niece and we had a great time, one swallow does not a summer make and one bad experiace does not make aristomenis a bad complex, i agree that their food and drink prices were high but if you didn't want to pay them you had plenty of choice of other places to eat and the supermarket was only across the road i managed to cook dinner for six on several occasions on the small cooker. the holidays cost was a bargain and the reps were great.

if you are thinking of going to aristomenis don't be put off i can highly reccomend it having been there two consecutive years we got back the first year liked it so much we booked to go again the week after we got back, if i could afford to go next year i would dont be put off it's a great set of appartments steve, elleni and sherri were great hosts

and for some of the best food and service on the island (lamb country style) spiros is a short walk up the road what more could you want

sorry to disagree with you

best wishes better luck next time

john

Graham G

John Smith if that is your name!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You seem to have missed the point of both this site and my report.
If you were to take the time to read my other comments you would see what a wonderful holiday I had. You might also note that I give credit where credit is due.
As for getting what you pay for, my inlaws paid full price for the holiday and booked early.
In future please read before you comment and have the guts to tell me to stop moaning yourself

John S

Someone tell Graham to put a sock in it and stop moaning! You get what you pay for in life!

Please don't let this moaning git put you off these apartments I've stayed there and they are nice apartments. You might not always get a seaview but hey its not the end of the world!

Graham G

I have just read another post on Aristomenis and it reminded me of the drinks ssue. I only bought drinks once at Aristomenis, after being charged 3.50 for a larger and 8 euros for two ice creams I never retuned to the bar. At Eleni studios the larger is 2.20 and so are the ice creams. There is no difference in quality or brand and both places are complexes.

If you walk 20 yards over the road from Aristomenis the nice man in the shop will sell you a pint of beer for 80 cents and an ice cream for one euro but you wont be able to eat or drink your goods by the pool because of "tax reasons" ??????????????????????

Graham G

My inlaws stayed at Aristomenis while we were in Eleni studios and they asked me to post their views.

While my holiday was fantastic theyres was a nightmare, due to the rude unaproachable people running this complex. My inlaws are in theyre 60's and in poor health and looked forward to a peaceful stress free holiday in theyre apartment with a balcony and sea views as they booked back in October 2004.
On arrival they were shown to theyre apartmet below ground level with views of an eight foot wall retaining the road above them and a large generator cupboard to the side. The sea was to the back of theyre apartment were there were no windows. They referred to the apartment as the DUNGEON.
My 15 year old daughter was staying with them and the apartment was booked as a 3 sleeper, this was a joke as even with the three beds pushed together you could not open the patio doors and had to climb over the beds to get in and out.
After complaining to the rep who was less than helpful and seemed only interested in the owners point of view my inlaws were blanked by the staff and made to feel very uncomfortable for theyre entire stay. As a result of this they spent most of theyre holiday at Eleni Studios with us.
The Aristomenis policy is one toilet roll per week per three people and the bins are emptyed and towels changed on Thursdays, this is not negotiable and the rep cant help. Take into account that all toilt paper must go in the bin not down the toilet and you can see things getting rather unpleasant.
The final insult was on departure day, our flight home was at midnight and they had to vacate theyre apartment at 10am. Our cases were in the departure lounge at Eleni in secure storage while my inlaws were told by the rep to leave theyre cases next to the stairs outside the DUNGEON at Aristomenis. My inlaws decided they would be happier comming to us and getting on the coach with us and made arrangements for me to pick them up in the morning. When i arrived they were stood by the side of the road looking glum, they had put theyre cases where the rep had told them to, only for the owner to tell them to take theyre cases and get out.

The perfect end to a relaxing stress free holiday - avoid Aristomenis like the plague.

Anne & dave M

We have just spent 2 excellent weeks at Aristomenis, rooms very clean and spacious, spectacular sea views from our balcony, lovely pool - very clean. Steve,Eleni and Sherry are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble, spent some very enjoyable evenings at the bar especially the Greek BBQ night which should not be missed. Best Greek food on the island. Will definitely go back.

Sandy P

enjoyed our week , could have done with a kettle ; and a couple more utnsils. bbq great value ,hosts polite ,enjoyed our stay.

Sherry M

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR GREAT COMMENTS. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE @ WWW.ARISTOMENISSTUDIOS.COM HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON! =-) CHEERS!!

Michelle

Have just returned from a fantastic week at Aristomenis Studios. Steve, Eleni and Sherry were very friendly hosts and were always smiling.

The apartments were compact, clean and airy. We stayed in the block closest to the sea which had stunning coastal views and a mountainous backdrop - would recommend a ground floor apt too as there are no balcony restrictions.

Views are stunning, food is delicious, cocktails flowed very nicely(!) and the pool was the best I saw. BBQ on the Friday provided excellent food, greek dancing and a moonlit swim in the pool...a good socialising night.

Even when the pool area was busy there was plenty of room for all but at some times of day you would have the tranquillity of a solitary swim.

Pool bar at night was great to sit at and relax after dining at a taverna and the music was varied with a happy holiday volume :-))

If going for 2 weeks you may benefit from hiring a car to get about but if you just want to relax and have the odd stroll (or rather worthwhile hike!) to the beach this is perfect.

John G

we stayed 13-20 june had the best holiday ever and have booked to go back next year the week after we got back, our appartment was great, our hosts could not of been better and the resort was great i can highly recommend the local resaurants esp speros just up the road,

Ann F

After reading the comments on Aristomenis studios we are really looking forward to going on 23 may 2004. We are celebrating our 30th wedding Anniversary this year and are bringing the rest of the family with us!See you soon

From Ann and John Fitzsimmons Liverpool

Alison O

Clean, spacious studios with stunning views over the sea and a decent-sized pool. The Friday-night barbecue is well worth it. Location-wise, you need a car if you want to go to the beach. The only fault is that the studios are poorly-equipped with cooking utensils if you fancy eating in.

Gregory L

Best holiday ever! What more can i say? Harry and his family are the perfect hosts. The rooms and pool area are fab!!! Cant wait to get back next year. The BBQ night is an absolute must, delicious food and Greek dancing...great way to end your week.

Colin, denise, katie and

Stayed at Aristomenis studios in August 2003! Best holiday, best studios and best hosts ever! Enjoyed it so much we are coming back next year! Ari does something wicked with the Jack Daniels and watch out for the flaming Sambuca's. Can't wait to see you all and our new friends next year for more fun and the pool and the BBQ after party. See you all soon! Its still all Barry Whites fault!

Rob G

Stayed at these apartments for 2 weeks in August! Excellent hosts! Eleni makes great pancakes! Absolutely top notch can't beat the place!
Already booked to come back next year and bring more family to meet the yanks! Look forward to seeing you all in August with the rest of the gang x x x

Tim S

we stayed there at the end Of Aug and loved it! The view is excelllent, the rooms are the cleanest we've stayed in...the bath rooms and showers were great. Plenty of hot water the really blasted out! The pool was lovely and clean and all the staff were lovely.
The Greek BBQas great fun too.

Really recomend these appartments to anyone thinking about going!!!!

Ben S

theese are probably the best studios we've stayed in clean, tidy and all the staff are very friendly cant do enough for you.pool cleaned regularly and bar stays open as late as you want it to,if there's any specials at the bar they are a must try it the best greek cooking ive ever tried.

Sophie H

Aristomenis Studio's are clean, well equipped and in a beautiful location. However, if you have a room near the pool it is extremely noisy, loud music playing until 2am, people shouting etc. I know that a lot of people enjoy this type of night life when holiday, and if you do then you will have a great time. I go on holiday to get away from all that and prefer to come home well rested rather than exhausted!

Lee F

P.s If you sit by the bar at night DEFINATELY get a multiple orgasm ... my favourite and a bed hopper.

Lee F

The rooms are reeeallly spacious and really clean.
A great selection of food at the bar, A great pool , amazing weather, A most amazing family what more could you want??

Steve B

As we stepped from the coach we were greeted by scent of flowers. Magnificent views; to the front the sea & behind the mountain. The appartments were clean & tidy. The Kefalonian people were very friendly & helpful,it was a very safe environment.Excellent for a quiet, stress-free holiday. Aris,Sherry,Mom & Chris(puppy) thanks for a wonderful holiday
from Steve,Lyn,Hannah,Ed,Claire&Jenny

Rick A

We absolutley enjoyed every minute of our holiday,
The appartment was very clean and Arri and is family were very friendly and helpfull nothing was to much trouble (not even a milkshake). Thank you once again for a great time.x

Sherry M

We would like to thank everyone for your wonderful comments. We are so pleased to hear that you all have enjoyed spending your holiday with us, as we try to make sure everyone has the best time possible while in Kefalonia. Please continue to give us your feedback as all comments are helpful in order to serve our guests better.
In regards to the comment left by Chris, Pete, and Clint... to clear up the Pricy comment, all the bar prices are relatively the same in the Lourdas. The only place that might be cheaper than us are the supermarkets. I am pretty sure that even in England, drinks are "pricier" in bars or pubs as opposed to supermarkets.
Once again, we give many thanks to all our guests for your wonderful comments and we hope to see you all again in the future.
Please visit our Web Site @ www.AristomenisStudios.com or email us @ Aristomenis1@aol.com with Any questions or comments

Pete R

Stayed here for two weeks and enjoyed our stay, the room was small but very clean. The pool, bar and gardens were kept very tidy. The views of the mountains on one side and the sea and zante on the other were very picturesque.

We wished we had gone to the barbeque night on friday as it looked good fun, but we had already booked the argostoli at night trip and didn't get back until 11 when it was in full swing with greek dancing (but no plate smashing (well you cant have everything))

We never had a bar meal so we can't comment, but the drinks were a little pricey.

I just returned from a brilliant holiday at Aristomenis. It was one of the best places i have been to on any greek isalnd. the room was perfect and well maintained. the pool and bar were so lovely, that we hated leaving for our trips. we had no problem spending our day by the pool. harry and his family were the greatest. BBQ's are a must on friday nights, plenty of food and much better than most of the tavernas in the area. cant wait to go back next holiday.

Lucy C

This was our first holiday to Kefalonia & it definitely won't be our last! Although we originally wanted to stay in Scala, am very glad we chose Lourdas. It's quiter & less touristy, which is exactly the kind of holiday we wanted! Our apartment was lovely and Ari and his family very friendly and helpful. The pool is definitely one of the best we saw during our stay. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Lucy & Aaron

Kate H

We just came back from our best holiday ever! Kefalonia is a gorgeous island, better than any other ive been to. Aristomenis Studios is beautiful. the owner is very friendly and helpful. The bar man ARI makes the best cocktails! BBQ nights are a must. great chance to learn greek dances! Cant wait to go back!!!

Harry S

We both loved it the views from the balcony were stunning the location may for some be a bit of a hike to and from the beach which is superb and well worth it .There's always a bar for a rest if it's too tiring. It was quiet and peacefull but it was May! which is probably the best month to go. Very clean the only downside of the apartments is that there could be a bit more drawer space, other than that it was everything we thought it would be,Heaven!
The owners Aris,Cherie and their mother Eleni were great company and extremely helpful. We can't wait to get back there next year or even sooner if poss.

Dave B

fantastic apartments with large pool and patio area, very clean although fairly basic, a long walk to the beach and feels even further on the way back (uphill) quiet poolside bar for those long cool drinks, 10/10 for the maintenance of the beautiful grassy areas and flower beds.

Michelle S

The owner was rude and unhelpful, every time we used the shower it flooded the living area. The self-catering is the most basic that i have ever seen, not even being able to make a hot drink. No reception area, only a man behind the bar. On our shared patio the chairs kept going missing and the manager got upset when we asked for more. The walls are paper thin, you could hear every thing that was going on next door. The beach is 2km away , going down very steep roads, its best to get a taxi back!!!. The one good thing is the views ate fantasic.

Kelly C

Just returned from an excellent week staying at the Aristomenis Studios. The apartments were in a lovely position(the view from the rooms was amazing) and were immaculate - there wasn't anything we could fault.

Arri made us feel very welcome and he made an excellent Pina Colada!!! - We are already planning our return trip next year

Trev H

The owners are the best people you could wish to meet. The apartments were great. The neighbours! all but 2 were great. JUST try the place. I'll add more when Lisa is here. Great holiday - thanks Harry (Aris !!)

Looking at the reviews these studios have got fantastic reviews. Can anyone please tell me who the tour operator is????????

Jackie R

The apartments were in the perfect location, fantastic views, not to far from the nearest restaurant.Room was large, quite clean, very quiet. Pool was great, "god send" due to the walk to the beach, quite struggle back up!!!!! Car hire essential, it's a must to see the beautiful Island and to visit those beaches, lovely, and have dip in the sea. All meals were really nice, sometimes found main course arriving before 1st finished. Thought drinks were expensive in bars but found meal with drinks very good value.

Louise

Just to add to Kate and John Taylors(lovely people who we met from Manchester) comments, we too had a great time..although the weather did change from sunny skies to mad thunder storms-very unusual at this time of year but we kept on laughing. Our apartment was clean and comfortable and the view of the mountain was beautiful! The walk to the beach however was a trek and back up was quite something for me,having the car was a god send!!!The restaurants were not disappointing and the Cephallonia Pie was just delicious!!To Kate and John :hope you are both well and enjoying married life..Lou and Kev XXXX

Kate and jon T

We have just returned from our honeymoon, staying at Aristomenis Studios. It was brilliant. we have got some wonderful memories. The apartments were lovely with fantastic views of the sea and Zante in the distance. It was excellent to have the pool, as the beech was such a walk away, down hill ok, just back up again was a nightmare, make sure you have plenty of water. Out of two weeks we made it to the beech 3 times. The rest of the time was spent by the pool, apart from when we were touring the island in our hire car. The best restaurants are La Mer, Greek Island. Tricalore is ok but we had to wait an awful long time, but the food was good when it arrived. Harry's pool bar served nice snacks in the day. The owners of Aristomenis made us feel very welcome and we definately would like to return next summer. Hello to Harry, Helen, Cherry and Jon's cleaner girlfriend!! Oh and by the way the Friday night barbeque was a good laugh. Lovely food, everyone ended up in the pool so make sure you are prepared for getting wet. See you again soon. Kate and Jon Taylor.

Rory F

We were so pleased with the studios. I have to say we like our bargin holidays and we got total value for money. The view of the mountain and the sea from our balcony was idilic. Aris and Cherie were completely laid back and good company at the bar on the evenings. My teenage son and niece(5) and nephew(10) loved spending time with them. The pool was great but watch out for the jazcuzi as it is a bit of a knicker blaster(hang on to them). The beach seems so near but yet so far. Follow the road for 2km and you will find either Trapekzi or Lourdas beach, depending which way you turned. Either way it is a very hilly walk back. Best tempted late in the evening when it has cooled down. Or head to Lithero beach, the route is down a cliff and a bit of an adventure. Make sure you take plenty of water for this and don't do it if you have a bad heart. The beaches from Lourdas to Lithero to Trapekzi are either pebble or sand. The sea is warm and sandy selves keeps it shallow for a long way out. For two sunbeds and a parasol its 8 euros which can make it very expensive to do daily. Bring your driving licence as you really need to hire a car to get about. The only driver among us refused to drive there so we were limited to what we could do. The trips were expensive and don't book the shopping trip to Argostoli. You can book a cab for 30 euro return or get a bus on a morning for 2 euro return. If you get a car you don't need the over priced trips. For the price of two trips for 2 people you could hire a car for 3 days or more. Inflation and the change to euros made prices in line with the UK which was a bit disapointing. Really disappointed we never got to the BBQ night, only half a one, which my teenage boy enjoyed in true Kevin style and got totally smashed. If you book Aristomenis you really will not be disappointed with the studios. PS. Eleni, Aris and Cherie if you read this we left before we found out how the christening went. Hope it went well. Rory, Antony, Dean, Charlotte, Kerry and Ann~(Grandma) Thanks for a lovely hol.

Sarah T

I've just come back from staying in the Aristomenis Annex apartments and it was fabulous!Aris, Sheri and Eleni will make you feel very welcome, such a great place, definately a holiday to remember! I would recommend that you hire a car to get about in as there are so many beautiful places to visit, Aris or 'Harry' will sort you out with a car at a very good rate , i would avoid going though your travel agent as they tend to charge more £££s You have to go to the BBQ that they hold every Friday night, the food is gorgeous and then you can work it all off with a bit of greek dancing! oh, and try one of Harry's tuna salads - Nice!

Louise

I have been to Kefalonia before..Its amazing.Have you seen Captain Corelli? It is very quiet, romantic island and the sea is as blue as I have ever seen it.I have been to six Greek islands and this is the best.Lourdas has great reviews but is very hilly. The beach is beautiful and very long.My mum just came back and she went to Lourdas to check it out for me and she says its fantastic.

Paul H

we have booked a 14 night stay at the Aristomenis in Lourdas, has anyone any information or helpful comments on these apartments, or on car hire ????

Ian C

Please tell me about these apartments, i have booked a studio for 1/9 for 14 nights.
