Finikas Restaurant

Restaurants in Agia Efimia

I don't understand the negative comments, although people have a right to their opinions, and any business can have an off day.
I've been going to Finikas for about 10 years. Always go when I am in Agia Eufimia, which is usually about twice a year. Plain but good food, welcoming host Andreas. I like to see the pennants of companies I've sailed with on the wall, and the whole place has a welcome, place of comfort, feel about it.
Look forward to going back this Autumn and to eating once again at Finikas.

Hi, I didn't eat in Finikas, primarily because I vaguely remembered the poor reviews from here. However to be fair on them, it looked OK with a great 1st floor area / bar overlooking the harbour. The staff were friendly (OK they were trying to get us to eat there). My reason for writing this is regarding the cats mentioned in the review below - the cats (and dogs) visit every Taverna. They go there because the tourists (mainly British) feed them. I personally was more annoyed by people smoking at the table in the restaurants than the cats or dogs - if you ignore them they will go away. All of the Tavernas in Agia looked good - We had our favourites, and some were did not look to our liking, but that's personal choice.

did not like the food and having all the cats around the table was not nice. must say it was the worst place we ate at.

We have just returned from Ag. Efimia.  Having tried most of the other tavernas, we chose to return to Finikas three times in one week.  The food was good,  the service excellent, and we were given a desert of Tiramasu cake on the house whether we had purchased one course or two.   Didn't have the fried aubergines, but did have the courgettes which were crispy and delicious.  Would recommend this restaurant.

cant believe the comments on here. just returned from aghia efimia and this place is so friendly, staff are great food is outstandling, free ice creams for the kids and drinks for the adults, the only thing that spoilt this place was the large parties of rude people....thanks guys we are returning next year

Something for a quick dinner. In 30 minutes you will be ready and we thought it was a fast-food restaurant.

click to enlargeNothing special about this one ,service was average to poor, some days seemed interested and other days not.

Had the giros special which was a bit on the salty side.
Shame i like Giros normally.

The worst meal we had on kefalonia and probably the worst of any of the greek islands we've stayed at (of which we have stayed at several). We had fried obergines which were swimming in oil and had to leave them. I had stifado which was luke warm, chris and clint had cheeseburgers which were burnt and the portions were very small for the price paid (which was the dearest priced meal we had).

We did the kefalonian island tour with kosmar and were recommended finikas by the representative, so we thought it would be of good standard, how wrong you can be....

While we were having our meal there were also several people around us complaining. I think the only reason it was busy is because everybody there was on the kefalonian tour.

We had a good meal here, however it was the most expensive place we ate all week. That said the food was good - I had the lamb which I can recommend. Lively atmosphere and always busy.

We visited here several times to have lunch during our time at the beach and found the traditional Greek food to be superb, Tzatiki, Greek Salad, Spinach Pies etc, delicious. However, we had an evening meal and we found it to be of a much lower standard. The Veal was tough even though we asked for medium rare and food was swimming in oil. Service very good though and setting great. The bar above is also a good place to continue your evening although spirits very expensive.

Service bad and food not particulary special, I think they rely on the location (nr.to harbour) to sell the restuarant.

I can't belive the previous comments! I ate here 9 out of 10 nights (I tried another restaurant and it didn't compare) in Agia Efimia. I understand others may not have liked the Cheeseburgers but who eats burgers in Greece? The Lamb Souvlakia, Stuffed Tomatoes, Tzatziki, Dolmades, Kefalonian Meat Pie, grilled fish and Skordalia were excellent! Not to mention the American boys that were with us enjoyed the Chicken Nuggets. As I mentioned, everynight the service was great the staff was friendly and available. In addition, at the end of every meal we were treated to dishes of fresh Watermelon and Honeydew melon. I could only wish there were restaurants like this here in the states!

food here was ok & staff appeared genuinely friendly. very popular with the locals for sunday lunch. my wife kept wanting to go cause she felt sorry for one of the waiters. he seemed to be poorly paid, deprived of respect & treated like a slave by the owner. (not too dissimilar to my own position in our 22yr marriage). certainly worth a try. the toilets are not very discreet though, they appear to be on a raised platform in full view of part of the eating area. so don't use the 'trap' with the concertina door. it has NO lock on it & if you are in the middle of cleaning 'cheddar gorge' & someone opens the door, half the restaurant will be put off their cheese pies.

We stood around for ages waiting for the waiter to put two tables together (there was 7 of us), my wife's meal came 10 minutes after we had all finished eating. Food was nothing special. We ate there in 2000 and gave them the benefit of doubt in 2001; we won't be eating there again.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I hated it, but I couldn't understand whay it was always so busy. It was probably my least favorite restaurant in the resort.

This seems to be the in place to go, especially with the music bar above. We found the food to be alright, but felt there was a lack of choice, especially on the greek style dishes, and that the emphasis was on getting the customers served quickly to free up the table. The kefalonian style eggs for breakfast are excellent!

very lively when the yachties are in town and relatively noisy for ag ef. food was ok
